Day 120 Promise 579 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them who believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He who glories, let him glory in the Lord. How often have people considered you foolish, simple, not all there because of what you believe, take part in, or enjoy? You hear the rhetoric of the world and go along with it so you don’t look foolish. Yet in your heart, you know the rhetoric isn’t founded on wisdom. Paul told the Corinthians the world saw them as foolish for their faith in Jesus Christ. He pointed out that God chose people not for their wisdom but for their faith in Him. People want proof that your faith isn’t foolish. They demand it to the point you almost feel ashamed of being a Christian. Almost. Then you remember what Paul said to the Romans. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Being a Christian isn’t something to be ashamed of, but it’s power from God. Only God could bring you to salvation. Only God can show you His wisdom in forming this world with the Word of His mouth. Only God can raise your dead hopes and give them life. It isn’t foolish to trust God and His promises. It’s wisdom born on the cross of Jesus Christ when He died for your sins and rose again for your salvation on the third day. Are you foolish? I would rather be foolish in the world’s eyes than face destruction at God’s hands and spend eternity in Hell. Let God’s wisdom flow through you and give you His power. Let’s pray: Father, let Your wisdom flow through me so people will know I am Your child and won’t follow the foolishness of this world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. God uses the foolish things(our stand for Christ) to confound the wise. The weak things(humble) to show HIS strength to be perfect. Why in this world would we ever want something different? Nothing else fulfills that longing deep inside, for righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!
