Fall Songs: Fall on Me (#3)

As I said yesterday, no surprises from here on out in this list of favorites with “fall” in the title. Heck, anyone who knows me can finish this off for me! 
(Nah, I’ll do it myself, they might get the order wrong. ) Here’s today’s tumbling tune.
#3: Fall on Me - R.E.M.
Well, duh. I guess the only shock would have been if this had not been on the list.
Um....did I mention I kinda like R.E.M.? And this song?? 
These guys are smart, so they leave the interpretation to you. You can see this as a song about pollution, or about nuclear war. I’ve always taken the latter interpretation (“feathers hit the ground before their weight can leave the air” is quite an apocalyptic line).
Either way, it’s a fabulous song.

Thank you!
It’s easy to say “I like this song.” To explain why is a little more difficult. I certainly don’t want to over-analyze it (that makes it like “music appreciation” in college, which took all the appreciation out of music for me), but I love music, and explaining the backstory or the reason why a song “hit me” a certain way is part of the fun!
