Please send mail to our Post Office box

Filling in personal details on computer forms can be annoying. Some forms insist on a residential address. Any mail sent to this address goes to Donnybrook but that’s not where our post box is. Luckily, the post master is very good and lets us know about any parcels that might arrive there for us. Our post box is in Boyanup which has a different postcode (zipcode). So that’s one problem. But Vince met with a new difficulty today. There are usually lines for: Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Postcode. We only need the Address 1 line. Today’s form insisted on both the Address 1 and Address 2 lines being filled in. So Vince typed ‘I only have one address’ on the Address 2 line. I really, really hope we get a letter with ‘I only have one address’ on the envelope. That would be really cool! Photo is of a sunset we saw on our travels

@JudyEv i'd be a firm believer 'f such. 'twas said puters 'd save paper. which 'twas a falsehood coz puters crash, data lost. 'lways 've to've back'ps 'f e'erythin'. one'd think though that since schtuff 'tis 'nline, companies'd be more 'fficient with aid when schtuff goes 'wry. 'las, such's not so'n most cases. that'n the 900 prompts (sarcasm) one's gotta go through to get a real, live person. jest to find they've nary a clue either. most frustratin'.

@crazyhorseladycx They reckoned computers would do away with paper but I find more and more I'm printing out emails as some seem to disappear or else it takes an age to find them in the system.

Sometimes I think computers and all this automatic signing up, in and out, has simply complicated things instead of making it easier.

Occasionally there's a form -- usually from the federal government -- that doesn't allow for post office boxes. That's a lovely sunset, but I've never seen a bad one.

@JudyEv -- I'll take your word for that. I'm never up at that hour of the morning to see.

The trouble is, without a PO address, mail doesn't get to us. Sunrises are pretty good too.

@FourWalls Well, to be honest, I haven't seen many. We're an hour or two into daylight before the sun gets up over the hill to our east.

LOL! In those cases, in adress 1, you write Post Office box and in address line 2, the number. I've had forms like that. Kind of funny, because I have a house.... Hopefully 'I only have one address' worked.

Here, it's usual to put the number then the street name, in that order, on the one line. We could have got around it but sometimes old people get stubborn.

I use both lines when filling out my postal address. One is my physical address (Which we don't use for mail.). And the other is my PO Box number, which is where we prefer our mail to be sent. Usually there is a check box so you can designate which address should be used when mailing an item/mail to us. I agree, that would be pretty cool... and funny as all get out!

@DaddyEvil Fair enough but sometimes it's an obligatory entry.

Having a box to tick for your preference is a really good idea. I've never seen that here.

I used to write Merry Christmas on one of the lines or Happy Birthday to the person I was mailing. Beautiful sunset.

That is very pretty it looks like a painting. Not every address fits in a neat little box. For years the post office denied this address existed. That was weird!

@JudyEv I know why it happened, when they were assigning a number to this house,,,somebody in the real estate office transposed the digits so what was supposed to be 158 is 185. Only one on this side with an odd number.

Some authorities just don't want to hear when you try to explain the situation. That does weird - an address being denied.
