So Ungrateful

Paying it forward as a random act of kindness is not new. It is now even more appreciated when a lot of people lost their jobs or have to settle for shorter hours as businesses continually to be affected by the pandemic. It is heart-warming to hear of stories like this in the middle of this very dark cloud. There is one article I read somewhere, where a lady shared her experience while doing a grocery run. She only went for a few necessities during her lunch break, she mentioned that she was working from home so she expects to be able to be back online soon. As she lines up to pay for her purchases, an older woman before her in line was having some issues with the cashier. It turns out that she is a few dollars short to pay for her groceries. As the older woman was rifling through her bag and contemplating what items she can leave behind, she walked up and told the cashier that she will just pay for whatever the older lady was short for. Imagine her surprise when the older lady turned to her and asked her if she does not mind while she goes back to the store and get more stuff that she needs since she's paying? Taken aback, she was a bit upset with the boldness of the older lady, but just told her that no as she needs to get back to work soon that is why she is paying for the rest so they can all finish up there. The older lady huffed and said, "I see how you really are." The lady who offered to pay for the shorted amount just laughed and shrugged her shoulders. But she sure shared that how she wish she just minded her own business. Now she ends up being the bad one.

Sounds like a messed up episode of What Would You Do? A random act of kindness should not be treated that way. Some people are just real, idiots.

I think the story would take a different turn if she asked nicely. But if she was turned down she should not feel that way either. What if the lady who offered to pay her short just had enough for the rest of her own groceries?

It's a classic case of you've already lent a hand, but they want to take the whole arm. It's sad that not only is she not grateful for the help, but she cannot be contented with it. I would be thankful if a stranger gave me a penny so I will not have to dig some more change in my bag.

Wow, pretty shameless. That kind of attitude got nothing to do with your age though. I think the one who was paying still able to answer nicely. I might flat out said no.

I feel so bad about the person who has the mere intention of helping. We could not just control or even help that person who was just supposed to receive help to just be grateful. If it was me, I would definitely be grateful for saving me in a situation like this, I could pay forward by lending my hand in case someone needs it in the future. Well, some are just born that way and let's just hope for the best for them. God bless the lady with a good heart.

If I were the older lady I might even refuse the help because I would be embarrass. I guess she felt entitled that she should get everything that she wants or needs. I was hoping that the story has an update, on whether she still gave the money or just walked away from it.

Some people do not appreciate a good deed even it hit them in the face.

You can't always help others unfortunately.
