No, I'm not typing this discussion on it. I bought a cheap laptop to get me by in the event this one tries to die. It doesn't have a touch screen or backlit keys. I need the touch screen if I'm going to disable the mouse and I need to disable the mouse to type correctly. Because I'm always hitting it.
However, it works, and really that's all I can ask for right now.

I don't care for a laptop computer, the desktop works best for me.

They aren't for everyone. I like them for the poritability. Especially if I travel somewhere overnight and still need to pay bills or something.

@kobesbuddy I don't really travel much. Used to once a year for a visit with my mother-in-law. I also like to curl up on the couch when my back is killing me. Laptops are perfect for that.

@kaylachan I'm home every day and don't travel. So, a desktop is perfect for me.

It's an HP, actually I love the brand. Not excited about the hardware, but then my laptops get opened and closed a lot.

I am in same boat, this works for now had to buy a keyboard and new mouse but pc part hanging in there, but no touch screen. Problem is they raised prices on pc's my computer bought for 460, if I want one similar its over a thousand now. Glad you got something to get you by for now.

Yeah. My hubby and I decided not to wait until my older pc snapped completely. I will still need my older pc to work on mylot, but the new one can be used for other things.

@crossbones27 I completely agree. I'd planned on waiting until tax time, but last week I opened the lid of my laptop and the screen went black. I'd been able to restore it by restarting. Good thing I can do that with keyboard commands, but it acted like a wake up call. This one will do for now. I'll either get my Dell fixed or I'll get a better one in a few months so I have this as a back up.

Oh, I know. I am learning to work with it. It's important to make money and do the best I can. So, I have to use a mouse. At least I can. And, so far *knock on wood* I don't start have crazy typing mistakes. IE, losing my place and typing random sentances on multible lines.

@Cheyee It can be. Especially for what I need out of it. I just hope it won't come back to bite me. I also need one with backlit keys and a touch screen. This has neither. But, shopping on a budget. I have to say Window's has improved the syncing experence.

If I can't have a touch screen, the track pad is my best friend.

I have a choromebook as a back up computer and the old one stopped working for some mysterious reason, but friend had a new one he wasn't using and brought it down for me. He says it is extremely fast, that will be a nice back up..

That's good. I thought about a chromebook, because they're a lot cheaper. But, I've never used one, and Jaws is only for Windows.

Most things are standard on a lot of computers. Some differ in their software depending on the brand.

Yeah. Had I done a bit more digging, I would've realized for an addational 70, I could've gotten one with a touch screen. My bad. At least I have one that does the job. Not having a touch screen is an adjustment, and I'm re-learning keyboard commands I used to not use. So, it's not entireally bad.

@kaylachan I've never had a touchscreen so I don't know what you're having to relearn.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, unless you plan on keeping your phone plugged in while you browse the web on the computer. Using a mobile hotspot (if your country and wireless plan allow it) will drain your battery. You can talk to your phone provider and ask about mobile hotspot options. Either by thetering your phone, or getting a separate device to act as a wi-fi router.

Enjoy your new laptop!
Thought of getting a new laptop this December for me but I'd wait for a couple more months before getting a new one.
