"Do YOU have a GLASS HEART?'

Let me share this student of mine last night. I knew from the start that she is a different one. The way she talks and acts during the class. There is really something. To cut it short, she is manifesting chronic depression and claimed to be having a series of psychiatric consultation. I am not a specialist in this matter. But I took the role of being her friend throughout the class. One thing for sure. I am so careful with my words and not to break her heart into a million pieces. True my son underwent through that too. He is now ok after months of consulting with psychiatrist and psychologist and taking medications. For some it may be lingering problem that will attack you for some it may just a few phase in life that is why there is really no direct treatment to it. It could last long depending on how they cope with it.

@Shavkat Yeah I guess she needs more time to deal with it. It takes time to recover and some has it the lifetime.

@Shavkat It will depend on her ability to cope with it. My son has recovered already and he is cherrful once again. I think he was able to do it with the help of his therapist that guided him to look for some ways to combat that anxiety he has in him. I think he was able to figure it out already just hoping they would not return back to it again.

@rakski I am trying to understand her. I suspected that she is agoraphobic.

I am sorry for her, it's a sort of real disease, not easy to go over this. I often am too sensitive.

I am only sensitive when it comes to betraying me or things that are not acceptable to me. I find it a serious case because she doesn't want to mingle with other people.

@LadyDuck I am not sure if this bad news. She started to keep on canceling her classes with me. She seems to have paranoia episodes. For me, it is a good thing. She will not have classes with me.

Some people are very sensitive. Depression is very difficult to deal with for a lay person.

I agree. I can feel that she didn't overcome her personal struggles. I am sure she is going to be acting strange later. Another class session with here tonight.

@Shavkat I guess just put yourself in her shoes and keep trying to understand her. You are a very good person and I know you care.

Unfortunately, I cannot avoid her since she is my student online. For your information, she is from your country. I do agree with you that it can make me drained if I entertained her rants during the class.

Oh dear sorry to hear this, It must be hard to work with. I do not have any dealings with it but if I did but not for work, I would just listen if I could. But you are not there to listen but to teach.

You said it right. Sometimes I whine about this matter to the company. It seems that they don't know how to screen students online. In fact, they are the ones who failed us in evaluation.

You need to be careful with her and also truly care. Half care will hurt her the most.

The good thing is we are having a virtual class. I would be more careful if the class is a classroom type offline.
