We're having guests for lunch

I’ve been doing some extra cleaning as we have people coming for lunch. We’re having pickled pork and chicken breast plus some salads and crusty bread. The sliced meat will be served cold and all dishes placed in the middle of the table for self-serving. They have been married slightly longer than us so we’ve been friends for about fifty years.
We have to go into our nearest town for the salad ingredients. They open at 8am so we have plenty of time to get there and back before our guests arrive.
The husband made the swing you see in the photo. There are much fancier versions available now but they wouldn’t have given their riders any more fun than this one did. It’s made from farm scraps. The base is a big plough share which is buried in the ground.

I occasionally like to eat my guests for lunch, too.
How much fun to get together with friends. And, if I haven’t mentioned it lately, your hubby is exceptionally talented in making things!

@JudyEv — we’re one of a kind, that man and me.....
He lives not too far from me (about 160 miles), so it’s something in the air probably.

@JudyEv Thanks for the correction. When I was his age, I enjoyed the swings too.

I'm so happy they have been your friends a long time.
I hope you enjoyed your visit and I love those pictures of Vince. How creative to make an amusement ride for a child :-)

@JudyEv Oh why I thought they were of Vince. On all account how crafty , and how lucky for your son - his own swing of that style

@crazyhorseladycx Kids learn boundaries in this way. Just how far they can go before the consequences hit them. Nowadays some children are protected way too much and never learn to think before they act.
