Accidental I Love You

Have you ever accidentally told someone you love them? I remember when I was younger, maybe a teen, and I'd be on the phone, talking. All of a sudden I'd pause and ask, "Did I just say I love you?" And the person paused, laughed, and said yes. I did that twice, to two different people.
I asked my mom if she'd ever done that, and she had, once. Have you ever done that? It can make things awkward!

Happened to me a few times too. The latest one is to a senior manager at work. I was talking to my husband over the phone, and when we're hanging up we say "I love you" to each other. Immediately my other phone rings and it was the senior manager. We talked for a bit, and as we are hanging up, I said "I love you", and instantly realized my mistake. He said, "uh, I love you too."
Good thing we are also good friends so when we saw each other sometime later we just laughed. Before parting, he said, "okay, I love you!"
Yes, we're both married, and yes I know his wife. He is just trying to embarrass me.

@AmbiePam I told him this is how workplace rumors start, so he better quit it. He confidently said no it will not, and no he will not stop. I soon find out why.
Even to other male managers, he also says I love you before hanging up. And they know he is just being silly. Sometimes he receives a "yeah, yeah, whatever", and sometimes he gets "well I don't love you back, you just asked me to do more work."

I know I tend to get wrapped up in my head from time to time. Occassionally, I'll catch myself blurting out stuff for no real reason. I think I literally bit my tongue once to stop myself from saying it.

Actually, yes, I have done that once or twice and then realized I was just teasing and hope the person would not think I was serious

I never said it without meaning. I did, however, say "Love, Loretta" at the end of an email and we had a great laugh about it. I email three people often and we always end it that way. I received an email from someone I haven't heard from in a long time and ended that way out of habit.

I don't think so, but yknow what I worry about ? That I've accidentally said "blank" you instead of thank you.... only instead of "blank" something else which wouldn't be nice to say lol

It's not 'I love you' but more like endearment name calling for me. I did slip, a couple of times. And they're not people I supposed to say that casually. I looked cool and unbothered on the outside but I was cursing myself real hard on the inside.

It never happened to me. The only person (that I dated) that I ever loved was my husband.
