The long awaited stimulus checks will be arriving very soon. For some as early as next week. Granted, it's half of what it was the first time. But people are rejoicing. They will finally get their long awaited "help."
But who is rejoicing more than you?
The rich.
Jeff Bezos, the Walton family, and all of the big businesses and rich landlords who will now get that money from your hands to theirs.
The big grocery stores will get it. The electric companies will get it. Amazon will get it. Walmart and Target will get it. Landlords will get it. Credit card companies will get it, and banks will get it.
Because with this money you will pay for stuff and buy stuff.
And the rich own all of it. Everything you need, everything you want, everything you owe money for...
They own everything.
So, will the $600 be enough to change your life? Of course not. Not even close. But where will ALL of this money go?
To the rich.
Yes. Bottom rungs WILL benefit because someone needs to work at the places where the money will be spent. But no one is rejoicing more than the rich because once more there will be hundreds of billions of dollars flowing from your hands to theirs.
It never ceases to amaze how few people understand this. We waited and we wanted for Congress to act so we could get this money. We chastised them for not taking care of the little people...
Only to now get the money which none of us will benefit from, but the rich will benefit from HANDSOMELY.
As always, I just try to keep things in perspective. This stimulus is not for YOU. You will simply spend it. The rich will get ALL of it.
Thank you, in advance.
Not only will I also get MY check, I will save it and invest it, and PROFIT from it. It is what it is, as sad as it may be.
But it is also the reality.
$600 may not be much to you. But when there is now $180 BILLION entering the economy, which the rich will mostly soak up...
THAT is no drop in the bucket, and no one is doing the party dance like they are.
When you spend this $600, you will be back to zero, but the rich will be $180 billion richer.

That's a very sad reality. Everything goes to them. They gain their wealth on the backs of others. When and if it comes, I have no idea what I'll do with it, honestly.

That's a fair point. And, you're not wrong. Some of the "rich" did earn their money through their own hard work. I don't disagree there. However, a lot of them also earn based on who works under them and how well those businesses do. Without those under them, a lot of things wouldn't exist. What good is an invention, if no one buys it or uses it? A factory, if no one is there to run it? It's a never-ending cycle. @porwest

Well, I don't agree that the rich earn their wealth off the backs of others, personally. In fact, I think we owe a lot of thanks to the rich in this world, as they are very important and integral to a well functioning society, Somebody has to invent things and make things and build factories and provide jobs and so on and so forth. And generally speaking poor people don't do that.
My aim was simply to keep in perspective who ultimately will get and benefit from this money. BUT, there IS something to be said about workers getting something out of it as well as they must do the work to make happen whatever the money is being spent on.

@kaylachan No. I totally agree with you. And I also think most of the rich know and appreciate this. Despite how many people feel they are underpaid or underappreciated, I think that is more of a personal belief borne out of envy and lack of understanding than based on reality. Granted, there are bad people at all income levels. But most of the rich appreciate what they have, and appreciate how they were able to get there.

Yes. I have always had an issue with the comprehensive nature of a lot of bills that get passed. They put so much stuff in them that has nothing to do at all with the aim of the bill, and it costs taxpayers dearly. A lot of the time little "extras" are also put into these bills to make them unpassable by the other side.
The one side can say, "Those mean (pick your party) want to deny you your money," when the truth is there was an "extra" in that bill that no one in their right mind would support. The only thing the media focuses on is the main aim of the bill, not the extras that get jammed into it.

I didn't think of it this way. But you are right.

And it is not to say that I think this is a bad thing. Of course I do not look down upon the rich at all as bad people. In fact, I think they are vital to a functioning society and I think we all have a lot to thank the rich for. But at the same time, I think a lot of people forget where their money ultimately goes, and while a lot of people rail against the rich all the time...
They ultimately contribute to their riches. lol

Of course, trickle up is reality. So this is certainly one way to look at it.

I should point out that I am not complaining. I will never demonize the rich, nor deny them their riches. I think they are a very important and integral part of our society. My aim is more to point out to a lot of people who don't understand where the money goes, who it is really benefiting at the end of the day.

@porwest I know and it is a good idea. Too many people live in this fantasy land with no idea who, what, when, where or how. They are permanently

The rich will get the money, true, but in our case, I will be able to combine that money with some online earnings and get some home improvements done that will up the value of my house. I am investing in that way.

That is a good idea. If you don't need the money for other things, using the money in that way puts it to very good use. I should note, since some may take it that way, that my aim is not to rally AGAINST the rich, but simply to point out where the money goes.
In this country we unfortunately demonize the rich, and in future posts I aim to point out a few thoughts I have on why the rich are a very important and integral part of a functioning society.

We won't be spending the $600; but you are right.
