I’m going to be up for a bit writing (I don’t want to write much, if at all, on Christmas Eve), so I figured I’ll get in my MyLot posts as well.
“Have you ever felt lost? Literally or figuratively? Explain!”
When I see a question like this, I think about the anxiety/depression I dealt with back in late 2011/early 2012. I was crying all the time, took an almost two-month hiatus off writing, had trouble sleeping more than 4-5 hours and just didn’t know what I wanted out of life. While I dealt with the majority of that for 2-3 months, it was still a bad time for me emotionally and mentally. I was sick of waking up nervous, feeling gloomy all day and not sleeping well, so I eventually did what I needed to do to see a doctor for it. I was diagnosed with anxiety and bouts of depression, as well as low vitamin D (which can contribute to anxiety/depression) and was given medication for it. I’m still on the same anxiety medication today, I just don’t mention it here often because I don’t feel the need to. In addition, I was eventually able to push myself back into my writing and find myself again (I can’t say that was ALL my medication, but I know it helped).
I’m grateful for the family and friends who let me cry and vent as needed, my doctor at the time for taking me seriously and for being able to feel like myself again.
If anyone is feeling lost, I hope you find your way back to yourself and happier times again. <3
