When WAS A Good Year?

I got to thinking about New Year's, and how everyone always seems to say, "Thank God it's over." The thing is, that's what we say EVERY year. When is the last time you were at a New Year's gathering and someone said, "Gosh, let's do that again?" Suggesting that all of the years are bad. So why do we look so forward to the NEXT new year, which, by the time we get to the end of IT we will probably say once more... "Thank God it's over."

We can only hope that 2021 is better than 2020

I see nothing to indicate that, but anyone is entitled to their pipe dreams.

@RebeccasFarm I was just saying if you know the year you were born, and know you were two years old, it would be pretty easy to determine the year. lol

There are many hurdles leading up to this year, but remain optimistic there will definitely be better times.

I admire your optimism. The ONLY good thing, I always say, is that even in the worst years I'd rather be here to be miserable during them than not. lol

I really have never felt glad a year was over. Not even 2020. I get the feeling of a fresh start on New Year's, and I enjoy the peacefulness of January. But I've never felt, glad that's over, about a year.

@paigea The older we get, the more time seems to speed up. What gives?

You are unlike most people then, for sure. But I like your optimism. I think it is a good attitude to have. I tend to be like you a bit as well honestly. I actually wish the years would slow down a little bit.

The 60s and 70s were great years. I'd like to experience those again. 2021 is going to be great. I can feel it. Happy New Year!

Wait. You sure they were great years? I thought they were groovy and far out years. Hmm. Either way, they were certainly simpler times. I do recall in the 70s though that terrible oil shortage, and of course there was the disarray in the White House with Nixon and all. But there were some good years in there. Of course, I was a kid throughout all of the 70s.

I am hoping for good days, as always, but am apprehensive for this next year as well.

I guess only time will tell how it actually turns out in the end. One thing I can say is that any year I am alive and well is still better than the alternative even if it is not a particularly pleasant year. lol

I guess it's human nature to believe/hope that the future will be much brighter than the past. But life is full of blessings and burdens.
