2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (KJV)
People seek fame and fortune. They want to be recognized and wealthy. Nobody wants to be poor.
Paul told the Corinthians Jesus was rich, but to relate to them as their Savior He became poor so they could become rich. Not through the wealth of the world, but through the wisdom of God.
As Christians, you know heaven is beyond the imagination when it comes to what we will find there. Revelation details the wealth of heaven with streets of gold, foundations made of gems, and gates of pearl. Yet Jesus left the wealth of heaven behind when He was born of a virgin and became the adopted son to a poor carpenter. Jesus chose poverty over riches to draw you close to God.
When you spend time in God’s Word, time in prayer, helping those in need, you become wealthy. Not by the world’s standards, but by God’s standard. As His child, He provides everything you need. He gives you the resources you need to do His work and takes care of your physical needs too.
When you look at each day by itself, you might not see His hand on your life. Yet, when you look back, it’s easy to see His provision and care.
You are rich because God is your Father and He provides everything you need. You only need to ask. When you give God praise, trust Him to do what He promised, and spend time with Him as you would a friend, you will see how rich you are.
Let’s pray: Father, draw me close to You. Never let me go. Help me spend time with You every day and trust You to provide everything I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
