I Hate When They Sucker Me In

So last night I was watching Investigation ID (formerly Investigation Discovery), and reruns of Homicide Hunter: From the Case Files of Lt. Joe Kenda. It no longer airs new episodes, but Discovery gave Lt. Joe Kenda a new show called "American Detective", which will air exclusively on their new streaming service, Discovery+. I certainly wasn't going to sign up for it. Then they show a 18 minute excerpt of "American Detective", and they sucked me in. Discovery+ is also going to air new episodes of " Fixer Upper", the show Chip and Joanna Gaines originally brought to HGTV. They quit it a couple of years ago to be more family oriented, but now they're back. These streaming services are annoying! Just put the good stuff on the regular TV channels. I have access to Netflix through my sister's account, but I rarely use it. It's awfully nice of her. I did briefly have ESPN+, but the show I got it for was discontinued. I guess if I find something to cut in my expenses I could subscribe to Discovery+. Five dollars isn't much, but I don't want to add an expense without subtracting an expense. Which ones do you have, or have tried? I think my sister has every single one, but they can afford it.

If we add up all of the membership fees for the streaming services, it can actually add up to more then the cost of cable--remember the move to cut the cable to save money? We stream on free apps for the most part.

Exactly! That's what I said to my sister when she cut her cable. I just discovered tubi, which is free on my TV. I'm all for free!

@AmbiePam We use Tubi, is Hulu free in your country? We have Bell Canada for our internet and cellphone service, so we were able to swing a bundle deal and get the app, which offers tons of channels for next to nothing per month-because of the bundle. We have youtube that we stream from also.

@Juliaacv No, Hulu isn't free here. I've heard good things about it though.

For now, we have Netflix. That is all. And Apple TV.

I have Hulu and Disney Plus. I had Netflix for a while, but have unsubscribed because I wasn't watching it. Not enough to justify the monthly cost. I also have a roku stick, so I have a lot of free channels where I can watch the vast majority of what I want free-of-charge.

I've been considering Discovery +. I went to the site and looked at their offer and the video. With HGTV on there, I would be watching it 24/7. One reason I'm not yet subscribed. I have Netflix and CBS All Access. My son gave me Disney+, Hulu, and Vudu.

I don't watch them anymore on Tv. I watch them on Youtube and it is free. I used to be a fan of Investigation ID.

@AmbiePam They are good but Pluto acts goofy on the Kindle and is always reformating itself.

I know I want Epic and Hulu but I won't do it. I already have Netflix, Acorn and Britbox as well Xfinity and Amazon Prime. It is crazy how much I spend a month.

We have cable, Netflix, Prime, and Hulu. That’s enough for us. It’s getting out of hand now.

Ah they got you! Then again good entertainment can be a worthwhile thing. I've done Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, I have those now. I've also "HBO" only for watching "Game of Thrones" though

I have Astro, which have the channels that you mentioned. But Mom mostly watch drama in Korean channels. The other channels are pretty much ignored.

I just have regular TV - I don't watch a lot anyway, so that's enough for me.

The streaming services annoy me too. They will carry a show exclusively; and if you want that show you must sign up with them. We used to have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Now we just have Hulu. I got it to re-watch Lost and to check out Manifest.
