Death Predicting Portrait Painter?

I have a pretty interesting (though also disturbing) story to bring you all. It's about a portrait painter who seemed to know when his subjects were going to die. He gained a bit of a reputation for it. The story is allegedly true, but I am personally more than a bit skeptical. It's more logical to believe he was involved somehow in CAUSING the deaths than having a special power to predict death.

You could have given some more details or some links to read about. I never heard of it and I am clueless.

I only briefly heard about it in passing, just thought it was weird and a good writing topic. Not a lot of details (like the identity of the artist) were given to me, so can't write details I don't have.

If it is true then it's very creepy.

A painter of portraits has to look very closely at his/her subjects and - if he/she has a bit of medical knowledge - might be able to see signs of impending disease. One of these is circles round the iris of the eye - a sign of potential heart disease.

Interesting. I wish we knew who what and where.

this reminds me of a movie in which the writer knew when the subject would die. and it turned out he was the killer. I also saw the same story in a documentary.

It's my first time hearing and thinking about this, it's an interesting discussion idea. I will first read the opinions of other mylotters, later I will visit your discussion again if I have more free time
