Music that grows on you...

I am listening to some of the numbers Pony has sung. In my mind, I am trying to assess, which of his numbers I like the best. I never thought "Sometimes" would make it to the list. I don't even understand those lyrics. LOL But it did. I went back and replayed it. I thought Little Bird would be the top of the chart. It is. But Sometimes is second? Blink. So do you feel that some of the songs you hear the first time or few times have just fallen aside only to impress you later on?

Ah ha, I see you encouraging the Horsey. And yes, there are songs that grow on me. I will hear things that I didn’t particularly care for in the 80s and I’ll say “Hmm, that’s not so bad.”

Does he need encouragement? He is a natural... It has happened quite often to me. Perhaps back then, I was focusing on other aspects. Now when I listen to this one, I am kinda, how nice this song is.

@FourWalls Soothing and melodious. But...I cannot understand his words. LOL Even with lyrics...it goes over my head. I guess we will always have that difference. :) Something to fight about. LOL

@vandana7 — I think the thing “back then” was that we’d hear a song 10-20 times a day, and now we may hear it once every six months if you’re turned in to an “oldies” station at the right time. And Horsey is good, isn’t he. But don’t tell him that, it’ll just give him an attitude.

Yes, some songs take precedence over others and switch it up at times.

While I liked Pony's imperceptible humming in this one, I had not paid so much attention to the rest of the song as it deserved. I sure regret that. LOL

Usually if I like a song I like it immediately... I only remember one exception "Sittin' on The Dock of The Bay" by Otis Redding. My ex-boyfriend offered me the vinyl (yes in those times CDs did not exist) praising the song. I was not impressed at first but I grew up loving that song.

I know. This is not the first time it happened to me. But I was kinda confident about which song will rank the second considering how many times I had heard that one.

@vandana7 I know that I am not a big fan of country music and I hate metallica and hard rock.

Can you give some link please? I want to get familiar with music all over the world. Long ago, I heard a nice song from somewhere mid European country I think. I am still searching for that one. :) I love even jingles.

I love music... In fact I breathe music. I didn't like the Japanese and Korean songs that my elder daughter listens. But now I love many of them for their background piano or some great piece of other instruments. And for lyrics I always ask my daughter to explain it. But my favorite music is always Indian instrumental and some nice retro Bollywood numbers

I like music across board. LOL. Of course, Rap and some type of western music excluded. Latest craze - Rozana. Before that it was Pal Pal Pal - Munnabhai song. Incidentally, despite Rozana qualifying as Shreya Ghoshal's best ever song, the first time I heard I had not paid that much attention to it. Now, it is sort of heard a few times each day.
Presenting the video lyrical of the song "Rozana" of the upcoming Bollywood movie "Naam Shabana". Naam Shabana is an upcoming 2017 Indian action spy thriller...

@arunima25 Yeah. I liked Palak Muchhal's song in Ashiqui2. Chaahoon main ya na. Everybody was going ga ga over sun raha hai na tu. Pal Pal Pal from Lage Raho Munnabhai, Kabhi Kabhi Aditi, Masakalli, zara zara mehakta hai, Meri Zindagi mein aaye aur aise aaye ho tum, Bahara, all songs of Barfi. LOL. List is way too long. Old ones are real gold of course. Madan Mohan's numbers. My favorite singers are Talat Mehmood and Hemant Kumar among gents, and who else but Lata Mangeshkar among ladies.

@vandana7 It's one of my favorite too. In the same way, I have developed liking for songs of Guru, Rang De Basanti, Omkara and Secret Superstar. Now I keep listening to them again and again. Especially" Aye Hairate Ashiqui" from Guru.

I tend to listen to pony's songs once and form an opinion about them. You know I don't listen to music often. It confuses my brain so I can't pay attention to anything else. (That's why I don't listen to music while I'm driving.)

Funny, isn't it? I liked the singing. But it was not taken as seriously as his other number back then. But now, when I listen to it, I feel ..wow, this part he sang so well.

Yes, I don't always like a song the first time I hear it; but then it "grows on me".

There are some songs that seem to be beautiful immediately but later on, the fascination for them wears off. :) I can think of many popular numbers that are no longer heard. :)
