Red Cardinal in the Snow

Woke up to snow falling today. It is still falling now. Lots of birds in the backyard. Have been watching and photographing all day. The red male cardinal is a favorite to see in the snow. Always reminds me of my Dad. His favorite bird. I saw three males and two females today. So excited. Snapped this photo as the male had the deck feeder of peanuts to himself for a few minutes.

@CarolDM So far I haven't seen a single bird nearby, maybe when I set the food, they will show up

Oh no. I don't have that problem. What kind of birds do you have there? Maybe you need a different food.

I have quite a few visiting me, given that I have “cardinal blend” food out and neighbors on both sides have bird feeders. No shortage of dining options here!

I am only using peanuts this year because the blend seeds attract the sparrows. Trying to keep those away so when the bluebirds arrive, they don't cause trouble. Sometimes it works. Cardinals are loving these whole peanuts.

There is something awesome about seeing a Cardinal in your own backyard... the colour is amazing, especially against the snow!! We have had several this year... a first for us here in Canada! Blue Jays yes... cardinals rare!!

How lovely the color of the bird.its my first time to see a red bird.here in the city you cannot see any bird anymore and we do not have cardinal birds here.
