Covid Vaccination

The vaccination programme is going well in the UK and I hope I will get mine in the middle of February being in the 4th most vulnerable group due to my age. Many people are dubious about it saying that it hasn't been tested long enough but we have now vaccinated 2.5 million people with nothing major happening. We have three vaccines on the go at the moment Pfizer, Oxford and Moderna. One thing our government did get right was to order in advance not knowing whether it would be effective but luckily all three give high protection. I can't wait to get mine.

People over 70 are not going to be vaccinated before the end of February here. The Moderna should be available by then, it protects for one year and this is the one I can consider.

Doctors are saying we might need a yearly vaccination like we do the flu. This year I took the flu and the pneumonia jab and felt fine apart from having bruised arms!

@LadyDuck There's a bit of a debate going on over here as they have decided to do the two doses of the Oxford vaccine 12 weeks apart and some say this will not protect people.

@sprite1950 We will need a second shot after 3 weeks for what I understand and (may be) this will become a yearly matter.

We are supposedly vaccinating people over 70. I'm not sure about getting it. Of course it will be a long while before I can get it.

I am just 70 and the UK is doing well with getting people vaccinated. Are you worried about getting it? There have been no serious reactions here.

@JESSY3236 Ah yes, your doctor would have to advise you on whether to get it. Have you spoken to him about it?

@sprite1950 Yes I am worried about getting it. I'm 40. I have mild cerebral palsy and I was born with cytomegalovirus (it caused my cerebral palsy). I am not sure how this vaccine will affect me. Here's info on cytomegalovirus:

February is almost here. So it's not a long wait. Our dry runs have been success. And now the nationwide vaccination begins from 16 Jan.

I find it so exciting. We have 81,000 deaths to date in the UK and our hospitals are overwhelmed. So scary. The vaccination is the way out of this.
