Online photo galleries

Hi friends,
So it's been a goal of mine for a long time to start up an online photo gallery. I don't know what the end goal is, even. To sell images? Maybe not. Maybe just to display some of my favorite images I've taken over the years as I have a number of nice scenic/nature photos.
But I'm beginning to realize that the web is changing. People may not go look at an online photo gallery all that much as a website. So then I thought, maybe as a Facebook group, or page? But then.... isn't Instagram known as the platform for pictures? Only problem - I don't like Insta, I don't "get it", so, yeah there's that.
I would really like to cross this photo gallery goal off my list but don't know how to go about it.
Facebook page or group may win out.

Instagram is the easiest to grow. Hashtags are your friend on that app. Facebook is very...very annoying to gain an audience, but for sure your pictures are beautiful so it would probably be easier to gain because of the attraction and beauty that you do! There are other websites like deviantart and Art Station I think it is called. It is sometimes better to just post everywhere if you want to. Regardless of what you do, best of luck with it! People love pictures, so no matter where you post, your work will be seen!

Ah, I've never understood the hashtags either. Maybe I should familiarize myself. Aw thanks for the compliment. DeviantArt, wow, I never thought about being on there. There is some great art on there though. Great suggestion, thanks. Maybe you're right. Just pick a few platforms and upload anyway :-)

@FayeHazel Hashtags are your best friend when it comes to promoting your work. Just tag what is in the picture, even mention that it is a picture, what kind of picture, what you are using to take the picture, people look at all kind of tags. Even look at other photographers and see what kind of tags they use, I have learned a lot when it comes to artists and their tags and it has helped so much! Good luck!

@DesirousDreamer Thank you for the hints... I'm sure with enough dedication I will learn it and get a flow with it. Wise to learn from what others do

I take a lot of photos. Nothing professional. But I don't care to share on any social media. They have been stolen a few times. Not sure what the answer would be, unless you could find a private group somewhere to display your photos.

Aw I'm sorry to hear people stole your pictures. Maybe you could watermark them? That's something I'm looking at doing.

@FayeHazel He looks like my father and has the same first name. Not too cool.
Good luck with what you decide.

Thanks! That's the way I'm probably most comfortable with doing, uploading to Facebook. Your friend sounds cool :-)
