Not a Happy Camper

I got my car fixed yesterday and came home with a problem. No dashboard lights. I've been awake since midnight thirty. I went out in my pajamas to see if I could find the problem and found another problem. My dome light doesn't work either. Nor does my key bob to open the car. I need to use the key to open and lock the car and get into the trunk. Not happy.
I just got off the phone with the garage who did the work on my brake lines. I told him what the problem was. He told me they are completely separate issues from what they fixed yesterday. I told him I wasn't paying for something that was working fine when I brought the car into the shop and wasn't when I left. I realize I should have taken the car back right away or not even left the parking lot with it, but that's all hindsight. I also told him I've heard about shops that fixed one problem then made a problem so the person would need to bring it back to get it fixed again. I told him I wasn't paying for the new problem.
I have a chiropractor appointment in a couple of hours. I told him I had an appointment and will bring it back when I'm finished. So, he is expecting me.
Have you had problems you didn't have when you took something to get fixed whether it was your car or something else? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

Yes, I have had issues like that from time to time. Another thing that happens is when you are having an issue, take it to the garage and they do something they think will "fix it" and then just out of the parking lot you have the same problem again! I had an overheating problem like that with my last car that would drive me nuts, it was part of an overall electrical system issue that was at times dangerous. So, glad I was able to get rid of that vehicle.

I always check my car thoroughly when it comes out of service center. We learnt this lesson hard way .There was a dent on my husband's car after it came out of service center. We found it next day and no way the person was ready to accept his fault.

I am so sorry that you have these problems. I have also heard about those that fixed one problem and then made others so they could get more money from the person and string them along. Yes, I did have problems where someone tried to screw me and I found out that he was not to be trusted and never get anything from him again and I have not.

@just4him Yes, sometimes it seems to me that the mechanic breaks my car more before he fixes it, something similar happened to me with the wheel

@just4him That was settled later, of course, except that I was without a car more than was really necessary.

Yes, I've had this happen before. They kept replacing new parts, to find out what the problem was. After paying them $400, our car was still stalling in the middle of traffic! Eventually, they went out of business, thank heavens.

@just4him Jay barked at the guy, 'Hey, we can't afford to keep replacing parts, to find out what's wrong!'

Wow, sorry to hear that....I wouldn't pay for the new problem either if it was working fine before you got the other thing fixed.

When I have let my car fixed I watch it and wait until it's done.

@just4him That's impractical to wait for 6 hours. Mine is just a minor car trouble which could be fixed for an hour or less.

Good for you for standing up for yourself I have been just doing the same with the Telephone bill problem yet again.
You have to say things outright as they are.
Good luck with the chiropacter.

I am leaving them as soon as I can as they overcharging me and all the only offers around are all this three months thing you know where after they charge you even more.
These have not even had the decency to charge me one month of their wonderful offer so I am changing and not willingly for me integrity and honesty are everything.
Great to see that you are doing much better now.

I've not had that problem for a very long time as my mechanics are Christians. But years ago the same company had workers that charged me for a job but I wondered whether it was fixed or a new post or on because the same problem still existed.
Is he going to fix it for free? My car has a knob in the inside that controls the dome and other inside lights and there are variations to each notch. Maybe someone turned that all the way off so they could leave doors open without running the battery down and never put the notch back where you had it?
I don't know about the key fob though.

@just4him good I'm glad they fixed what was wrong with yours. Some wouldn't but they also don't want a bad name either.

@MarshaMusselman No, they don't want a bad name. They want repeat customers. I've used them many times in the past with good results.
