Would you buy from a site like this?

So, for years I've been telling myself that I want a dream catcher. But I want a specific one, and I will know it, when I see it. Well I finally found one I want! It uses Amethyst chip beads, has a tree of life in the center of it, and has big purple feathers. My first hesitation was that the site came up on my newsfeed in Facebook under the heading of "Going out of business". Now I haven't seen this particular business before - but I've seen others that sell tapestries, clothing, that use similar wording, and ... guess what you keep seeing them advertised, so probably not going out of business, but trying to drum up sales. My second hesitation was once I put the item in my cart - it auto selected a "premium membership" to their site. Now the "membership" didn't cost anything but it took a lot to de-select it and I wonder if it would have come with some billing in the fine print if I would have let it go on. So I didn't like that. My third red flag, and this just annoyed me more than anything - was that a "tip" was auto selected too. "Do you like our products? Leave us a tip!" SERIOUSLY? Have you ever heard of such a thing. Tipping a retail site? I've heard of tips for delivery drivers, stylists, massage therapists, waiters,.... but not tipping a retail site for selling an item. That being said, I still really want the dreamcatcher and this site is the cheapest I've found my a long stretch for this particular one.... Would you buy from such a site? I didn't purchase it yet Photo from internet

That does sound very sketchy - I have never heard of a retail site having the option to tip like that, or that they automatically auto-selected a membership thing. I have purchased from places I didn't exactly trust (Wish, Aliexpress) but they didn't have weird things like that.

I'm happy I decided to not use them. I did some digging and sure enough the "free" membership renews at $12.95x month. How did wish turn out for you?

@MommyOfEli2013 Thanks! Yeah that's just shady business practice in my opinion. A pity that they have to stoop to that. Interesting about Aliexpress... no shipping! That's nice!

@FayeHazel Well that is good you decided to do some research and learned that the free membership renews for a price...and everything. That's awful they do that! Wish was alright...I would say they are legit/trustworthy - items just take a while to arrive. I stopped using them though because aliexpress is similar but has free shipping.

I would not buy anything from a site that does not look like it is worth your money.

Yeah, that was the conclusion I came to. Too many things seemed scammy about it

@FayeHazel I agree with you since the old saying is "If it looks too good be to true, it probably is."

I would prefer to buy from a site where I can guarantee I wouldn't lose my money before my purchase is complete.

I don't think I would. You may come across another dream catcher you like even better.

I always see dreamcatcher as something so mystic. It has weird vibes that I don't like. No, I wouldn't buy from that shop, I will try to find another shop. Good luck

Ah, do you know the story? Apparently the dream catcher filters your dreams. Bad dreams get stuck and don't bother you. Good dreams are allowed through, and go down the feathers :-) But I don't blame you ... we all have different tastes :-) I did get another shop, thanks! Hey it did snow the other day - I thought of you! :-)

I might and I probably already bought a few things from questionable places but now I try to be smarter. I ordered something for my husband yesterday and then they tried to sell me twenty five other products. Is already given my credit card info but for disgusted and backed out of that site. Later I saw that they charged me five dollars more than what I agreed to do I'm guessing they did throw something in with my package I just won't know what until it comes. Even though I wanted the item I didn't think they should finish the sale when they wouldn't when I kept saying no to all their other offers. As far as a tip that your place wants it could be more like a recommendation rather than monetary but be careful.

Ugh. I hope that you get the thing you ordered in good shape, and that the bonus gift is decent, too. I hate when places do that. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to mention it to them, they might give a refund or something? And sometimes it's not worth the hassle. Ah no, the tip was for adding a percent on to your bill. Amazing.

I’ve heard of the dream catcher, but I’ve never liked one. The one in the picture looks divine.
