First Vaccine Dose

This morning I received my first Covid-19 vaccine dose. Five and a half hours later I am doing great! As a few suggested, I took two Tylenol and a Benadryl right before the vaccine was given. Plus... I said a little prayer. So far... I have experienced absolutely no side effects; other than a very, very, very, mild soreness near the injection site. And I only feel that when I type. Praying it stays this way. The shot was absolutely painless. I didn't even know it was done. I didn't even feel a pinch, much less a needle. I have felt the flu shot a hundred times more. One resident was terrified of needles, and she was so surprised that she too did not feel a thing. Everyone marveled how painless the shot was, and said that they too felt the flu shot way worse than this... My second dose will be given on February 5th.

Congratulations on getting your shot, they are terribly slow in getting people vaccinated in our area. I hope that you never ever get anything worse from it then you are currently experiencing.

Me too. Too many people are way too negative over this...

Hopefully there will be no side effects a week after the vaccine.

I only had a mild sore arm that went away by the next evening. Extremely mild prickly body aches that lasted about five minutes, and a mild to moderate headache that lasted a couple of hours, and that was it... I have never experienced another side effect.

Good luck with the second one. My husband said he felt more with the second then with the first but it’s a booster shot so of course. He mild cold like symptoms was good in about 2 days.

@teresatrotter this also could depend on the which one your getting. There is two in our area that you can get right now. Yes everyone’s body is different so what they feel in experience will not always be the same as everyone else. But that is also why if your able to do the tracker you can add in your symptoms daily and they can use that information

I have heard that the second one is worse. But I've also had friends who said they felt less on the second dose, than the first. I think it's just the body makeup. And how we handled vaccines. So I have no clue how I will react to the second dose. I hope it will be as good as this one.

Congratulations. The soreness where you were injected is quite normal for almost any vaccine. And yeah, they often suggest taking Tylenol or any paracetamol for fever. Sometimes vaccines could cause mild fever, which is again quite normal. I hope everything goes well for you.

@teresatrotter That's good to know and congrats for having the vaccine. It will be weeks before the vaccine is available here in our place.... though the frontliners already had their first dose.

I just found out that the Covid-19 vaccine was given twice. Why is that?

Comes in two doses. There's two types of vaccines. One you get the second dose in 3 weeks. The other when you get the second dose in 4 weeks. The second dose is more like a booster shot to give that added benefit. The one that I got yesterday gives me a 52% protection against the virus. When I get the other one it'll be 95%.
