These past few days, I have been hearing from my Chinese students that they are being locked down. I had this student of mine who is whining about it today. My opening spiel is 'How are you today?' He was not able to conceal his feelings and uttered his words sadly because the teachers and students were locked down at their school. They are waiting for the swab testing to be administered. Moreover, he was so hungry and no money to buy some food.
It is not an isolated case because my students are not living in the same cities and provinces.
Any updates or news about this?
How would you feel if someone is in this kind of situation?

Wuhan has gone on a sudden lockdown. I saw it on news channel. They were covid free till New year Eve and celebrated well. Then WHO team lands there and they go for sudden lockdown claiming a second wave. Even the team is sent for mandatory quarantine. Something is definitely fishy. China is always under lense of suspicion consideri covid cases and numbers.

I don't know what's going on over there, but I can't say I'm not surprised. After all, China is where this all started after all. By keeping quiet, they can make the world think they are over the worst of it. So blame can go to other countries like the U.S. who can't seem to shut up about how bad things are.

I read a headline about that Wuhan admits that a lab had released the virus before patient zero. I don't know if that is true. I think they are in lockdown because the WHO team is there.

I really don't understand why there are Chinese people who are starving and have no money in their own country. Aren't they socialists? Whereas in Indonesia, fellow Chinese citizens help each other if there are difficulties, including in terms of finding work. They always get priority and positions in private Chinese-owned companies.

I heard that the local government is not giving them food for free. I cannot say more about their real status but they are also greatly affected. I can tell between their statements when having classes with them. I cannot say ask more because it is not allowed.
