Benefits of beetroot

The lutein in the beetroot helps with macular health. ARMD - age related macular degeneration can be kept in check with consuming beetroot daily.
I have this issue in my left eye. I also take a lutein supplement and have started eating beetroot everyday. If you close one eye and look through the other, taking turns you will know if your eye has this issue. If you have this issue you will see for example the window rods, twisted.
Do you like beetroot?

Not really. Never was a fan of beats. My husband on the other hand would occasionally buy them. So I know he'd be a fan.

@kaylachan To have a brain injury at 3 months is sure a traumatic experience. I am a senior and so have the ARMD Had I known the benefit of Beet earlier I could have eaten it earlier. But now I am having the lutein supplement and also started on beets. You could do that too. There is nothing to lose.

@allknowing Well, my optic nerves are shot to .... hell. Been that way my entire life. Thanks to a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) at age 3 months. I have light perception out of my right eye and some color, but that's it. My left is a bit better and I have some distance, light and color out of it.

I love beetroot but have not had any lately. I usually like it in soups or marinated beetroot

It is only when I had this issue with my eye that I learnt about the beet.

@allknowing I do like beetroot but only when it's in a burger or salad sandwich. I don't really like eating them on their own. Thank you for sharing.
