Completely boring, nice speech. No highlights to speak of.

@TheHorse All the lowlights came early, when they were focused on Trump leaving. Trump leaving would normally be a highlight but since there were no handcuffs involved, it became a lowlight.

@TheHorse The capitol was locked down so no crowds but likely wouldn't have been any anyway.
Trump flew to a army(?) base where a lot of people were waiting for his farewell speech. He didn't go to Biden's inauguration.

I don’t watch I didn’t think the kids wanted to see if and I never watched in the past anyways. I’m assuming since I live 45 minutes from DC that it was peaceful. I know they had a lot I mean a lot of guards. They had extra police and military presence

@ShyBear88 We don't need drama when it comes to supporting American Democracy.

I thought it went very well, and the message of healing and unity sounded quite refreshing (not “come over to my way of thinking you brainless puts”). Not my vote, but IS my president. And he sounded like it today.

@TheHorse -- I believed -- and really, still do to an extent -- that "outsiders" would do better than "career politicians." But this little four-year experiment showed that we need to pick those outsiders very carefully.

Trump sounded presidential in his last two speeches. But it was too little too late. As I grow more "Conservative" with age, I hope the Republican party can divorce itself from Trump, regain some integrity, and have some articulate speakers on its side.

@FourWalls I have to say I agree with you. I wish I could as John Prine about the extent to which "The Great Compromise" was a song abut America.

::SPOILER ALERT:: Lady Gaga is NOT our new Vice-President. Kamala Harris is. I was surprised, too.

@TheHorse No. It was like a plain dark blue dress with a giant bird on it. Kind of disappointing.

@xander6464 (yawn) Like many Iowans and former Iowans, I prefer people who make a show of themselves.

@TheHorse I don't think anyone could get near there at all. The military presence was sad but necessary.
All in all it went off without a hitch but not as much pomp and circumstance as all the other inaugurations

@Marilynda1225 Probably a good thing. It's time to "mellow things out."

It was covered here on all news channels. It went smooth. Performances by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez were good. And the speeches were good as expected on such occasions. Hope they standby to those words and deliver.

The great news is, no illegal activities. Not a single "violent" arrest in DC. Although there was a group of people marching in the near north side banging on pots and pans.!

@JudyEv Yep. I'm just glad that it went smoothly. If Trump pays for what he has done, I do wonder how his "supporters":will react. But I believe that the "crazies" are a minority, and that the Republican party will regain its integrity.
