Shopping alone - or with others

I do not like company when I go shopping. First - I am fussy. I am almost miserly. Kinda, I do a lot of window shopping then finalize my shopping list. With a friend that is not feasible. I feel guilty for using her time. So I end up buying the 1st product that serves the function rather than checking for more that could better serve my purpose and have added benefits too. Another disadvantage of shopping with friends is they feel something looks nice on you or is the right thing for you. Some are so insistent that you feel they are getting marketing commission. LOL Some may be well meaning, others may be in hurry to get it over and done with. But understanding that there is budgetary limit - well, very few have that sense. I also hesitate to ask what I might be willing to experiment with. So yeah, I do not like going out for shopping with others. What about you?

I also prefer doing this alone. Looking here and looking there is not for men. A man needs new trousers, goes into a shop, tries on a pair of trousers. They fit, he pays for them and goes home. Even if the first pair fits, a woman will always try some others on just to see what they look like on her.

Exactly. We women are different in the way we shop. I would not go for shopping even with other women. :)

Alone or with others? Hmmm! Neither. I avoid any form of shopping. If I have to do it then I do it alone, I know exactly what I want to buy before I go and I'm in and out like it's a military operation.

I like to take my time shopping, so am better off going by myself. If I go with my friend, I get a free ride but not enough time to browse in shops that don't interest her. Conversely, I have to wait around while she shops in clothing stores (she's a "plus size" and I am not).

@BarBaraPrz They do not understand. They think we are innocents and do not understand what we want to wear. I do not like very conspicuous attire. They feel wall flower clothes make me fade out. I am on the other hand trying to enjoy the fun in the gathering, who is bitc hing about whom, and who is match making with whom. Juicy stuff. If I wear well, I would be noticed.

Pretty and I normally shop together. Sometimes we are in a hurry and just want to get what we need and go home... other times we take our time and explore all that is available. (If we are low on funds I tell her I can only spend so much and no more.) If/When we go shopping for clothing, she changes and then comes out and asks my opinion. I tell her the truth about what she's found. When it is clothes for me, I change and come out. I hope she tells me the truth about what I have picked.

You just described my parent. Yesterday I told him my medicine. He went to medical shop for his medication and he brought something else saying try this first. When we go for shopping, he insists I buy something. At times excuse is like the salesperson gets commission so if you have asked him to pull out four or five things, it is your duty to buy one.

@thelme55 Exactly about being old. LOL. I pulled out old dress for this year's festival. It looked great after almost 5 years. I felt good too. Kinda, I am not wasting anything. I also keep thinking why do I need more glasses, let me use up all existing ones. In the past, I would be kinda upset if I broke a cup from the set. Now, I feel good, it can be used regularly. LOL.

@vandana7 The older I get, the more I ask myself if I need the thing to buy or not. Usually not. I buy only what I need. I prefer just walking around the mall and after that, having a break at the cafeteria drinking brewed coffee. Well, it does not happen for a long time because of our lockdown.

Alone definitely. I go where 1I want, when I want and do what I want. I live bargain counters and clearance and look for it. I'd window shop a lot for I'm in a tight budget. I like alone shopping.

Not a big fan of shopping. Yes, I do company if someone asks for. But when I am shopping, I will take my daughters if it's for them. If it's for me I take my husband and there is a weird reason for that

@arunima25 Grrr... actually not so grr. But still grrr. Kinda... You get to live only once. You have to get your share of desires fulfilled too. While his selection may be good, he should not be moody about something you like. Thank god he is your husband.

@vandana7 He is a man of few words but has a very fine taste of fashion. He can spot something nice and graceful for me which I might have missed. Also he keeps so many things in mind...how it will look, occasion etc. And other than that if I wear something that does not look good, it effects his mood though he does not say, you can make out.And when I wear dresses of his choice, I get a lot of compliments.

You take me to shopping. Get me a "charpai" or a bed somewhere outside a shop. You can shop for hours and then wake me up! I won't feel unhappy ! Alas, we cannot do that with our spouses!!

I have always wonder why only a cot is called charpai. I mean even a chair or stool could be charpai. Honestly, when I accompany friends it becomes a dilemma. They like something. Mind is kinda asking Really? But I find me finding excuses saying well, I thought that color might look good. It feels bad either way. The friend buys her selection, which does not suit her or is so common that it is ordinary. If she buys my selection (of which I am not too sure since I am no fashion designer), it may not suit her, or may not be to her liking. I hate the dilemma.

I sometimes go shopping on my own but I'm not that keen on it because I'm self conscious and I keep thinking that people are looking at me or laughing at me. I like going shopping with my Mum or a friend because then I can talk to them and it takes my mind off other people and I'm less likely to think they are looking at me or laughing at me.
