Toilet Paper Holder

United States

I am on a roll lately with my crocheting. Last I crocheted this TP holder for my bathroom. The area around my toilet is too tight to house one of those metal toilet paper stands for extra TP. I mean, I'm sure I could manage it, but I think it would be a hassle to get the TP Loaded stand out of the way while cleaning. Anyway, this hangs on the back of my bathroom door. I thought about hanging it from the closet door which is directly across from the toilet but the dirty clothes basket is right under that Whatcha think?

This just holds extra TP. It beats going to an entirely different room to get TP.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we have one of rank for the kids bathroom and holds the one they are using plus 2 more for when they run out. Then out where I keep the towels I have extra TP put away

@ShyBear88 I should make an area in our bathroom closet for TP but it's full of towels, cotton swabs / beauty supplies and my clothes on the top shelf.

It is pretty. Wouldn't it kind of be in the way though of those entering or leaving the bathroom?

Nope. The handle turns just fine and the sink is far enough in that your thighs aren't touching it when you go to wash your hands.

I think you came up with a decent idea. My tp holder keeps coming off the wall. I bought velcro but I don't think it will work like I wanted. Maybe I should add a knob to my walk and make one of these. If I decide to do that I'll ask for your instructions. I keep several rolls of extras in the cupboard right next to the toilet.

It's a simple repeat pattern. I crocheted 34 rows and this can fit two rolls inside comfortably. Our TP holder is a metal insert that was not well planned when the bathroom was built. We can place toilet paper there but the roll brushes against our knees. I'm using this one for extra storage but honestly I kind of like your idea of installing a knob or hook. I might have to make another one or something like a basket to hang on the wall instead. This is the tutorial I used. Just double crochets and shells.

This bathroom was built in the 70's. The toilet paper roll holder is a silver half circle that's built into the wall and it's awful. You can't place a toilet roll in without it knocking your knees.

@FayeHazel We have a linen closet in the bathroom and there's space under the vanity, but I wish they would have reversed the toilet and closet. This isnt' the smallest bathroom I've had to deal with though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That does sound tiny. I know my apartment bathroom is small and I too have had to think twice where to put everything, but at least the roll holder isn't irritating here

This is adorable. Does the TP ever fall out, though?

I think this is cool and I like the colors. My mom has one of those metal ones by her toilet and the single roll holders also.

Where you have decided to hang it should be a good place.

Another 'lotter gave me the idea of making a sort of basket to hang from the wall for more toilet paper storage.

@jstory07 I intend to use the same sort of pattern that I have for my other baskets but add a hanging handle.

Thank You! I love that title. I really love crocheting. It makes me feel closer to my mother (who loved crocheting until she wasn't able to anymore) and it helps with my creativity.

Seems like it will do the trick for you. But I would imagine that darn thing would want to get caught in the door every time I'd try to open or close it, and that might make me insane. Generally speaking it irks me to put things on doorknobs because they always seem to be in the way.

We had a door snake hanging from this door for years so replacing it doesn't much make a difference to me. It doesn't get caught in the door either, thankfully. That irks me too.
