Lunch: my first smoothie with avocado. (Shortish post).

In certain parts of the world avocados aren't eaten but they are used in smoothies and milkshakes. Today I decided to use a portion of avocado along with powdered peanut butter, almond milk, cocoa and a little sweetener (which it didn't really need) for a smoothie. I was a little leery but it's very good. Mostly I taste the peanut butter flavor. While the rest of your have lunch or supper I will enjoy my smoothie. Once that's done back to the basement I go to finish my last load of laundry and do some cleaning on the laundry tub down there. Have any of you ever used powdered peanut butter, or Avocados in smoothies, or Smoothies on a fairly regular basis? This might become my breakfast for awhile.

I have put in mystery ingredients in my kids' smoothies . . . avocado has been one of them . And funny but you don't really taste the avocado in a smoothie but you sure get the health benefits. I've never had peanut butter powder!

I put more avocado in my second one and it wasn't quite as tasty but I still drank it all. I also didn't add any stevia or mix it as long as I should have.

It's better than I expected it to be. I might have another one and try more avocado this time. But after I work in the basement awhile first.

I was going to say that isn't a very appealing color but now knowing it is chocolate and peanut butter it makes sense. My smoothies are usually pink since I use strawberries and raspberries. I can't tolerate Stevia so I use honey.

I don't like honey but no one likes everything. I didn't use stevia in the second batch and either could have our I could have used more of the powdered PB. The first time I used two tbs the second time less and I could taste the avocados more especially since they weren't mixed as well and were a bit lumpy.

No, I just make a banana shake with almond milk and add some vanilla, that's what I like

That sounds good too. Maybe the next time bananas get forgotten I'll add one with the other ingredients I used today. Bananas aren't on my diet plan but I'm losing weight so a little would be fine.

powdered peanut butter?? i reckon if'n such works fer ya, lol. i put a half avocado'n my smoothies when i've got 'em. mine're mainly orange juice, naner, avocado, honey, strawberries 'n blueberries. i tried such with peanut butter (non-powdered) 'n cacao 'n 'twas not a fan. i do my best to consume a smoothie daily, 'tis easier fer my body to digest'n utilize the nutrients that way. the pup 'tis quite fond 'f 'em, too 'n waits very patiently fer her share.

@MarshaMusselman she's quite fond 'f 'em :) jest'd ne'er heard 'f such. wonder why not use the real schtuff? to they shrink the fat out'ta the powdered 'r somethin'? i use frozen fruits 'nstead 'f ice. don't like 'em waterin' down if not consumed quickly. yes ma'am, the body doesn't mind, jest the taste buds, lol. 'tis healthy fats my body can 'ctually absorb, the nutritionist claims such's good fer inflammation, too.

@crazyhorseladycx I couldn't find my powdered PB and did use actual with nuts today that was good too. I thought I'd try the powdered but I can't remember there price I'll have to compare it with the pb I use and see which is priced better.

That's cute that yer pup wants her share too. I bought the powdered PB some time back but never used it. When a customer bought some recently I asked what for and smoothies was her answer. Not sure that is try regular pb myself either. I have some frozen fruit in the freezer and may try something using that to one day. It sounds like your body must tolerate the avocado in smoothies then?

That actually sounds very rich. I have not used peanut butter powder for anything. I may have put avocado in a smoothie once, I do not remember, but I know I intended to.

The second time I tried it I used less PB powder and more avocado and it wash quite as good plus I had lumps where the avocado didn't quite mix in. I hope to try it again and maybe with some fruit another time too.

I have made quite a few smoothies with avocado and I remember only liking one. Anytime I have eaten them even a small amount I get diherrea really bad so I avoid them. They are yummy cut up and mixed in a salad though.

So your don't get diaherria from having them in salads then? Maybe it's the combination of what you put into the smoothie. It does make ones stools looser.

That's okay. Not everyone likes everything. I may not end up making these much or at least once I use all my almond milk.

If you mix it in a blender that might work. I used two tbs of the powder the first time and less the second and the first concoction was definitely the better tasting one.

@MarshaMusselman That would be the only way to blend it as it's so thick. I'm glad they taste good.

@MarshaMusselman It's very good. I think it's mostly a Thai and Philippine thing . It's big tapioca cooked and lightly sweetened, put into a drink. The "drink" I've had it in is anything like a tea with cream and sugar, juice style drink, smoothie style drink, etc. Then they give you a big straw and you're to suck up the "bubbles" in the straw .

You can start with just a little avocado. What else usually goes into your milkshakes? Add the avocado to what you usually use starting in small amounts.
