From My Childhood

I just found a photo of an Electrolux vacuum cleaner very similar to the one my Mom had in the late 50's. Just curious to find out how many MyLotters here had a similar vacuum cleaner decades ago. It looks so different from today's fancy vacuum cleaners. We now have central vac here and this for many years already,

Oh yes, we had one like that too, probably not quite as flash. I think ours was more of a 40s model, without those fancy runners.

Well, as I celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, our vacuum will turn 50 at the end of the year, I still use it, it's not American, it's German.

@hereandthere Vorwerk is the brand and it still exist. This is the photo, it has plenty of accessory, you can remove the long handle and attach a short one, it was expensive, but a great vacuum.

My mom had the same vac when we were growing up. It was the Cadillac of vacuum cleaners. Today I have a Dyson.

Some homes in the USA have central vac but not a lot of them or maybe mainly in the more expensive homes. I remember that vacuum in your pic but honestly I don't think we owned one. Probably a relative or friend had it cuz I do remember it. I think we had an upright Hoover most of my growing up years.

My mom had one similar to this, but that was back in the 70s and 80s. Compared to vacuum cleaners of today, it was a beast. That being said, my grandmother had an old Kirby with a headlight on it. lol. I swear that monster was 90 pounds.
