It was past midnight when I was disturbed by a loud noise in the neighborhood. There’s a couple living nearby in trouble. I don’t know what they were fighting but later on, I heard crashing of glasses followed by cries of their little children. It’s their life and I think nobody is entitled to step in. I just find it very disgusting when you’re disturbed suddenly in the silent of the night by such noise. Why can’t they talk and settle their problem instead of fighting, shouting, and inflicting physical harm to each other?

Looks like the man or woman must have been in a drunken state as if they were both sober they surely would known of the consequences.

It's distressing when neighbours or friends have arguments, especially when it results in violence. It should usually not be proper to interfere unless there is evidence of danger of actual bodily harm, in which case it may be appropriate to call the police.
If the argument is between adults, that is one thing, however if it seems to involve the abuse of and harm to women or children, then you should definitely inform the authorities and the appropriate branch of your Women and Children Protection Unit:

I think someone in the neighborhood has that in mind too and I'm also willing to call the authorities if that escalate to something. I agree with all you've said. Thank you very much. Not sure if somebody had reported but a couple of minutes later, they became silent.
