Our mini picnic table is finished

It seems I had most of you scratching your heads with my last post and our latest project. Fiacre@xFiacre thought it looked some sort of communal toilet seat; @Eva James (@wolfgirl569) and DianneN (@DianneN) thought the holes were to hold glasses but Anna (@LadyDuck) was spot on with saying it’s to hold wine glasses and appetisers. When we go to an outdoor concert or even an indoor one like we did last night, there is nowhere to put our wine glasses and nibbles. Wine glasses don’t sit very stably (is that a word?) on grass. This little table solves that problem. There are four slots to hold wine glasses and enough room on the table for small items. It’s a prototype and we only finished it about an hour before we had to leave. It’s not quite finished. It will have a webbing ‘handle’ on the end which is also support a wine bottle. The legs have magnets to hold the legs vertically and more magnets to hold the legs in place when they were folded under. The white piece is a magnet but we think we can do something a bit more unobtrusive. Our friend had one at a concert we attended a few weeks ago and since then I’ve seen them in a local shop and online. I hope you enjoyed the little mystery.

It is really nice, we have similar individual tray that we keep in our left hand, so we can bring around the glass and some appetizers.

Thanks. It worked well last night. We had it between us on the floor in an old church.

@LadyDuck I loved those individual trays. They would be so useful at a party.

I saw a similar one in a shop just the other day. It seems they're the 'in thing' at the moment. It's ideal for our outdoor shows.

That is such a wonderful and convenient little table! If I'd seen it before, my first guess would have been a tv table, to sit over a person's lap. We had two of them, but nothing as nice as this one! Ours were metal with two legs that folded underneath for storage.

I hadn't thought about it being a TV table but, with modifications, it would work well as that too. We have 'stable tables' but they don't have legs.

@kobesbuddy I know you can buy them with short legs. I don't know that we'd use them although they wouldn't be much different to the stable tables we have now.

It worked well when we tried it out but one magnet isn't positioned exactly right and gives way too easily. Mark #2 will be better! lol

Thanks. Kharla thought it might be a TV table and it might work quite well for that too although I think it would need to be longer.

Thanks. It's surprising how tricky it was to put the hinges on correctly so the legs would go completely vertical but still fold up against the underneath of the table.

Very creative. And you'd be right glasses of most kinds aren't very stable on uneven ground. Having a portable table to hold things still would come in very handy.
