So we are coming into February already and l have not really had the time to get here to say hi/wish you Merry Christmas/Happy New year. So I am wishing you it all now.
Simply put we have been rushed off our feet not because of us but because of others. My daughter had covid over Christmas and was very poorly indeed. We could not put ourselves at risk so the only way we could help was by cooking lunch and dinner for them all. Once it was cooked we would ring my son in law leave it in the porch all packed up for them. She is fine now but still gets tired.
We felt so sorry for the kids but helpless too. They seemed happy enough and we spoke to them several times a day via video. It was hard for me to see my daughter looking so ill but trying to boost her confidence that she looked a bit better each time l spoke to her but in reality she did not and looked quite ghastly very grey but l never let her see my concern.
The little old lady one of our ex neighbours 30 years ago became very ill and we ended up getting her admitted to hospital. She was very confused and the hospital warned us that she was so poorly that at one stage it could go either way. At one point she was refusing treatment from the nurses and Doctors so l had to put my bossy hat on and read her the riot act! Thankfully she took notice. I asked them to let us know in plenty of time before they discharged her so we could make arrangements for her. They gave us 4 hours notice on Christmas eve then sent her home!!! 2 hours later she was back in hospital having fallen and split her head open.
She has no family apart from a cousin who is 96 herself and lives hundreds of miles away and is ill herself so we have had to organise power of attorney to manage her affairs. We managed to get carers to look after her and organise all her medical care, finances etc etc. All l can say is Amazon has been a God send.
My elderly aunt & uncle also had covid they live about 90 miles away so l have been organising stuff for them too. Things are beginning to settle as they are all on the road to recovery but it has been frustrating trying to organise everything for them all. We did not get much time for ourselves to be honest.
It would have helped if l was able to drive so l have had to use public transport to organise things and sort things out too. Not only that l started getting terrible pains and was unable to sleep. The Dr has given me some very strong painkillers which worked initially for 4 hours so l could at least get a couple of hours sleep.
Oh and other things going on but not to be all doom and gloom the future is looking brighter hopefully now the vaccine has started to be rolled out. I have to say l was quite disturbed to see events unfolding in Washington. What shocking behaviour!
So friends onwards and upwards there is a glimmer of hope and light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you are all well and keep safe and a very belated happy New Year!
I will try to catch up with you as and when l get the chance!
Photo of devil child looking positively angelic. I can assure you hard habits and all that and some of her hilarious awful behaviour has returned. She is quite hysterical!

I'm so sorry. You have gone through the mill. I hate this virus mess, it makes life so much harder and it is hitting some people more than others. The child does look like an angel, hysterical behavior and all. Funny is good, we need more of it in the world.

@garymarsh6 I do not feel like laughing today. I don't know what is worse, my headache, my eyes hurting, or the fever. I always feel better when I see or hear something funny.

My goodness what a time you have had. So sorry to hear your daughter was so poorly. Glad she is on the mend now; I hope she gets over it completely. It's so hard when you want to get in there and help but cannot, but you obviously did as much as you could.
You have been amazing looking after the neighbour lady too. The amount of work getting everything organised must have been absolutely phenomenal and getting around everywhere by public transport too - I can hardly imagine how you did it. Not to mention your aunt and uncle too. You are a true angel.
I really hope things calm down soon and that you stay virus-free and your pain can be resolved. Take care of yourself as much as you can. Thinking of you x

@garymarsh6 Yes all is ok here, thanks. So much so I feel guilty that we are safe in our little bubble. The consolation is that we are doing what we are told and staying at home almost all the time! A couple of friends have had covid but thankfully seem to be over it now. Girls are coping pretty well with the school situation. I did volunteer to help any neighbours who needed anything, and to drive people without transport to the vaccine centre, but so far I haven't been needed!

Wow, Gary. Thanks for explaining your absence. You and you family have gone through so much! I’m glad you were able to help them through it, despite your own problems. The devil child is adorable and her antics must be hilarious! We all need laughs now.
Stay well and Happy New Year! May it be much better for us all.

Sorry that your daughter battled COVID, thank God she survived this monster! Your neighbor lady should be in a nursing home, that's where she probably is by now. Hopefully, your pain killers will last more than four hours, that's not enough sleep!(as if you didn't already realize this) Sweet picture, of your grandbaby:)

We have arranged a care package for her now and got her set up with monitoring systems in case of falls etc. She really does not want to go into a home and we have told her that we will do our best to keep her home but our problem is she lives 10 miles away! So only visiting every other day but call her two or three times a day. I hope you are keeping well?

@garymarsh6 My mother was allowed to live in her own home(over 65years). We rotated her health care needs and checked on her all day long. One evening, she spent 6 hrs. on the floor from a fall. That's when we put her somewhere safe. She refused to live with her children.

Her smile gives the impression she's going to be doing something she shouldn't pretty soon.

I'm so sorry you've gone through all that horror, I pray everyone will be mended and safely home soon.
Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas.

Gary, I am so sorry for your daughter, I know that this nasty virus lets people very tired, but I am sure the worse is over and she is recovering.
What a stupid thing to give you such a short notice and send home an old lady the day before Christmas.
You must take care of yourself Gary, try not to overdo. I know it's hard and you want to help, but you need to stay healthy.
We are well, confined at home to keep safe, but we are fine.
The devil child is looking very pretty, but I know is often not at all angelic.

I am glad you are okay though a lot has happened within your family circle. It is good to know that all of them are on their road to recovery. I am sorry to know that you did not had the time for yourself taking care of other people's business but you are surely Godsent to all of them.

With all you have been through physically, it is remarkable you could do what you did for your family. I'm glad you were there for them and helped them through the COVID crisis. I'm glad they're on the mend.
I'm glad you knew what to do for your ex-neighbor to get her the care she needed in and out of the hospital.
There is always a glimmer of hope. You have a lovely granddaughter.

@garymarsh6 Right now I'm working out at home. This weather has me barely moving with back pain. My knees are great. I have a foot cycle that really helps when I can't get to the gym.
With the weather getting bad, I'm staying home until the temps return to normal.
On my last laundry trip, I practiced going down the stairs normally. I did it and am proud of the progress. I'll be doing laundry again today. Though with my back in the shape it's in, it's doubtful I'll take the steps normally. Just going up and down them will be good.

@just4him Just little improvements are so important and to others i may seem nothing but what you have achieved you should give yourself a pat on the back. Hopefully the weather will soon start warming up. I have already notice it is slightly lighter in the mornings and evenings now so Spring is just around the corner!

So much Covid around, it is awful. Luckily so far our immediate family has been spared. One of my brothers and his wife have gotten their vaccines, we are scheduled for February 16 and my other brother and his wife are too young yet to get theirs. You are such a kind person, your elderly neighbor is very lucky. Stay healthy.

Hi Judy now things are settling down a bit l hope l can get back to seeing mylot friends again. I have to say l am very impressed with how Australia is dealing with this Pandemic. It actually seems odd seeing peoples photos without masks on in Australia and life although slightly restricted there carrying on as normal. It is such a contrast to here! Stay well.

@garymarsh6 I can't believe our good fortune. We're shut down at the moment until Friday, if all goes well. One guy tested positive but so far we've have had no further cases. That's just in the west but the other states are doing well too.

Covid has reared it's ugly head for your family. I am glad your daughter has been able to fight it off. Hopefully she will return to her energetic self. It is a relief that the hubby and children didn't come down with it too. You have been busier doing those good deeds that a body needs. too be. I am sure it has been appreciated. As for the little "devil child". she is beautiful. Usually the more angelic they look the more ways they find to get in trouble. Sorry about your pain, I know it's no picnic. Hope it leaves you soon.
