Do You Enjoy Snow ?

I'm sorry, this question is not for everyone. MyLotters who live in tropical climates and have never seen a snowflake can't answer it.
Speaking for myself, I can say that my attitude towards winter weather has changed dramatically over the years. I grew up in an area and during a time where there was always snow in winter. Children went tobogganing, built snowmen and had snowball fights. They were a pleasure when one was on the throwing side and not on the receiving one!
I even tried skiing but as I'm not sportive, nothing much came of it.
I still like looking at snow when it is falling gently covering the whole landscape. There is always a special stillness when everything is white. The snow softens the noises.
But I prefer doing this now from inside the house. Snow can become slippery and turn into ice when the temperature drops. Falling can be fun as long as your bones are young. Things look very different when you become old! I'm not a young whippersnapper any more and am not keen on slipping, falling and breaking a bone and then having a leg or arm in plaster for six weeks or so.
I found this video by chance. Do enlarge it and watch it, you'll enjoy it! I didn't know that cows enjoy snow, either. It's a funny sight to watch the cow trying to catch the snowflakes with its tongue, isn't it? Never mind the text written in German. The cow doesn't talk German. :-)
Die Kuh Stella aus dem US-Bundesstaat Ohio durfte sich letzte Woche über den ersten Schnee freuen. Außer sich vor Begeisterung begann der Paarhufer sofort, die weiße Pracht zu fangen – mit der Zunge.

Since I grew up in the tropics in Panama, I am not used to snow and cold weather.

@Deepizzaguy Germans must have special winter tires on their cars. Do you have this rule, too?

@MALUSE The rare times it snows in south Louisiana is a headache for me walking on the slippery roads as well as driving in them.

It snowed every winter in Milan when I was a child and I liked to go to the Park to play in the snow.
Now I am glad to look at the snow from my window. The landscape is pretty, the noises muffled, but going out can be dangerous and shoveling the snow is not something I like.
The cow seems to enjoy catching the snowflakes.

@MALUSE The river Po does not cross Milan and it is about 70 Km from Milan. We HAD the "navigli" crossing the city and they were all covered well before I was born. Milan is as cold as where we live here in Switzerland, most of the winter close to zero Celsius and below zero, with dense fog too.

That's too funny. I've never seen a cow catch snowflakes. Thank you for the video.
I did a lot of that when I was young too, though I never tried skiing. I wanted to but never had the opportunity.
I love watching the snow. It always brings a smile to my face. Tomorrow we get a nice storm here.

i agree with you. Snow falling is beautiful. Snow shoveling (that happens after the landing of snow) is a horrible job!

Once upon a time long long ago we had terrible winters where we had to dig ourselves out of the house! What fun we had as kids the cold did not worry us back then returning home with blue fingers and red cheeks then getting the tingling feeling as you thawed out near the fire despite the warnings of getting chilblains! Sliding down the hills on toboggans or anything we could get our hands on, snowball fights, building igloos which always collapsed.
It was much more fun as kids but like you it is nice to look at from the comfort and warmth of your home as long as you do not have to go out in it. These days we rarely get snow so when we get 2cms it cripples the country in the south as young people do not know how to drive in it.

@MALUSE I hope you don't either because it is apparently very painful.

I love snow and being in it but only when everything is white. I hate the slush and the dirty snow.

Noooooo! I hate s**w (snow). S**w is a dirty word as far as I'm concerned. Seeing the first flake is nice; but after that I'm done with s**w and done with winter! Great post. 45 days until spring here in the Midwest.

I wish we got snow. I might like it if I ever go to the snow. Or I might hate it
