By the characters alone, a trio of colored women working at the NASA in 1961, the movie entitled Hidden Figures, based on true-to-life stories of pioneering black women in America's space station, did capture my interest as I browsed through the movie list last night. And boy, I did have a treat. The isms such as feminism and racism were highlighted. Women, by virtue of being female, were subspecies. Colored women, by the dark pigment of the skin, must be subservient. But the courage and the intelligence and the resolve of three gifted women cannot be stopped even by the most vilifying of conditions. After all, not everyone is endowed with an eye and a brain for geometric configurations. Neither is everyone fit for a supervisorial position and can configure the IBM. And in a white male dominating institution, a colored woman is definitely odd. Yet three colored women got through the odds and lived to tell their tales. Yay. A good watch especially for those techies who love space stories.
Watch it now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HDDigital HD http://bit.ly/HidFigDHDYTBlu-ray & DVD http://bit.ly/HFPHYYTHIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold sto...

You said it they even had to go to another building quite far off to be able to use the toilet also which I thought was totally terrible and denegrating to say the least I saw that film the other week they are courageous women way ahead of their time.

It was outrageous to rush down the block, especially with a downpour, just to be able to use the restroom. Sigh. Katherine Johnson did. And she even delivered her calculations. A woman enduring.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I think the same. A genius of a warm and loving lady like her should have been treated well.

@eileenleyva I think it was really terrible to treat any woman like that no matter what. She got completely soaked all the time like we have been in the Dark Ages for a long time sigh.

I had heard of Rosa Parks but didn't know much about her. We were never taught about things like that at school. I learned the most about her from the Doctor Who episode called "Rosa".

Hidden Figures tells the story of three colored women called Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson whose extraordinary lives were overshadowed their white male colleagues. Profiles of women of courage should be included in history curriculum.

@eileenleyva I agree. And you shouldn't have to only learn about them by watching Doctor Who!

@sharonelton I don't really watch Dr. Who. Probably once or twice a long time ago. I can't even remember Dr. Who any longer.

The movie is a revelation really, of women who made the difference at a crucial time when America needed the correct calculations in the race to space. What's in a woman's brain that man has to depend highly on those grey cells?
