Radish won't make people fat: Is It A Myth?!?

Before I end my day, I want to share about a root vegetable 'radish.' My student keeps on bragging that eating it will not make people fat. That's why she is slim. I cannot contradict her because she might be in a rage. What is your opinion about it? Is it good to consume radish regularly? Image Credit: tasteofhome.com

All vegetables will not make you fat, keep in mind that eating sweet foods can make you gain weight.

@Shavkat Yes, all of that must be balanced and not mutually exaggerated.

@May2k8 I do think that we can be fit as a fiddle if eating a well-balanced diet. A combo of meat and veggie will do this effect.

I think there are a lot of foods people claim will keep them slim. Our body chemistry is different from person to person and what might help one person will not help the other.

I agree. I guess we still need to incorporate doing some exercises to burn the food consumption.

Even if that were true, who wants to eat only radishes. I am fairly slim with no radishes . . . for me I think it is my genes.

I agree that it runs in the genes of being slim. I cannot eat pure radishes only, too.

They have very few calories, as most vegetables anyway. If you ONLY eat those things of course you do not get fat.

@Shavkat I mean only VEGETABLES, not only radishes. Those are not even the vegetables with less calories. Radishes have 16 calories per 100 grams and cucumbers have 11 and lettuce 14... you can choose.

A 1/2 cup serving of radishes only contains 12 calories, plus fiber and vitamin C. They help keep your metabolism running smoothly. Personally, I only eat radishes when someone sneaks some into something I'm already eating. Most radishes have a 'hot' flavor to me that I don't like.

@DaddyEvil Uhm, we do have some sweetened meat here. I like it and it is a good meal for breakfast. I don't like sweetened bread with meat. It is not my taste.

@Shavkat Pretty likes sweet and sour chicken. I don't like sweet flavors in my meal until dessert. (McDonald's has a sandwich here called Sausage McGriddles. This is a sausage sandwich, but the bread is soaked in maple syrup before it is cooked. I ordered a sausage sandwich and they gave me the McGriddle sandwich. I took one bite and returned it. YUCK!)

I think it's healthy. But I can't tolerate it. My stomach hurts if I eat it.

I read some information about it. It indicates that dehydration can be the end-effect with too much consumption.

It is not cool to eat it regularly. But then, it is fine if it is mixed with other ingredients with specific meals.

I only eat it if mixed with 'sinigang.' For pickled ones, I am not fond of it.
