Funny: 'The boy has four fingers." What?!?

I have had a class online with an 8-year-old boy this evening. We are in the middle of the class when he mumbled something. I got curious why he is acting differently. Student: Teacher, why is the boy has only four fingers in the picture? Me: @*$ Student: Why, teacher? Me: The boy is doing a magic trick. That's why he is only showing four fingers. He is hiding his thumb. I cannot believe that the company's lessons have some flaws. Getting back to the topic, I cannot say that the boy is disabled or has an abnormality. Did I explain it in a good way? Is it an acceptable thing for me to say this? Image Credit: encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com

Uhm... I'm confused. Each hand only has four fingers. Where was his confusion? I guess your explanation would work for someone that young, but it doesn't work for me.

He is asking the right side. It is just a matter of getting away from the situation and move on to the next page.

@mosherii I do agree with you. But it needs to follow the rules to keep the job.

It is not possible since the company that I am working with is not open to the bad notion of something.

Just tell those who ask that they folded their thumbs so how many fingers are left.

I did show him the trick so that he will be enlightened. Luckily, he did accept my explanation.

At 8 you may expect the brain not to develop fully. It may not be counted as abnormality. Yes the picture could have been explained to him in detail until he understands it.

I think he is just a keen observant at a young age. The boy in the picture showed five fingers in his previous lessons. I assumed why he had asked me about it.

@msdivkar It is not all, my friend. It happens that this boy is quite smart. I humbly say that he learned something from me by having classes with me at random.

I feel it was ok. You said it that way so that kid who is disabled don't feel bad. The tone and the way you say that matters. May be the disabled boy didn't like it or did like it, you would have noticed.

It is seldom to have this kind of student who is keen enough to notice it. I think it is a good thing and it shows how smart this boy is.
