Jade flower update.

As I mentioned in a post the other day, the wildflowers haven't come in yet in the foothills of Mt. Diablo. I'm going to give it another week before I hike up there again, as I didn't see Indian Paintbrush or Indian Warrior plants anywhere near ready to bloom. But my balcony jade plants (money trees to some of you) continue to bear flowers, and it's an enjoyable thing to see. I noticed the same thing happening in Berkeley the other day, so perhaps it is the rain we've had here. I'll attach an artsy fartsy photo I took a couple of days ago. I took this one looking down at the blossoms from my balcony railing. I wonder how long they'll continue to bloom.

Music helps plants grow, so sing Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Jaded Lover” to them. Nice photo!

You are a lot into music, right? :) Most of your posts are on music. Issue is, net comes at a time when neighbors are asleep. Some posts I can hear. Others, I have to forego.

Pretty! Maybe if you call them Money tree, you'll get a lot of money? I think we'll have some flowers in about 2 months. Possibly 3 months, but it's usually some green leaves for the first of May.

@TheHorse Lot of people have them inside, possibly outside in the summer but I'm not sure if there's any surviving outside in the winter.

@Torunn They're OK with cool (and even an occasional light freeze at night. But I learned my lesson about too much cold for too long.

In my dreams! Do people grow "succulents" (jade, etc.) in Norway?

That's wonderful. I have this plant, but the frost destroyed the leaves, so now new ones have started to grow.

I would have to say the rain had to have helped. We're finally getting some, wonder how long it'll take for our grass to turn green again.

@TheHorse I first saw it when I was visiting Wyoming when I was 5... my dad pointed it and other plants (Sticky Geranium, Black Eyed Susans) to me. I used to see it at Henry Coe state park, but I haven't been there for a long time. I really should remedy that.

Do People grow jade and other succulents in the Midwest? I can't remember! With jade, you can cut off a branch, stick it in sandy soil, water it occasionally, and it will grow.

My hunch is that you can plant it any time, so long as a freeze is not happening.
