I posted a few weeks ago about the gloves I was knitting
https://www.mylot.com/post/3425670/the-pair-that-isn-t-a-pair
The first two came out far more different to each other than I had expected. The right hand was quite bright while the left was more muted. But that was OK because I figured that the shades tended to alternate with approximately the same periodicity as the amount of yarn needed for one glove, so if I just carried on knitting a second pair, the next glove would be brighter again and so a good match for the first, and then the one after that would match the second. I just had to make sure I did the left or right as appropriate to match what I already had.
So I started a third glove, intending it to be a left hand, but part way through I put it down and - elementary error - failed to note where I was. Then I picked it up again and carried on from the same place in the right hand pattern (the right hand is given first on the page) and only realised after I’d finished it that I now had another bright-coloured right hand.
The next glove was going to be muted shades again, so I had to do another right hand to try and get one to match the existing left. That worked out pretty much as I hoped, but then I had three right hands and one left!
So now I have taped over the right hand instructions to make sure I don’t make the same mistake again. I’ve almost finished a second left hand glove and it looks as though there should comfortably be enough yarn for a third, so eventually I will have three sets of two gloves that are similar enough in colour to be pairs. Hopefully anyway!

Oh dear. It is so easy to make mistakes such as these. I crocheted a singlet top once and just had an inch to join on the shoulder straps. But I joined right front to left front and right back to left back. I ended up with very funny armholes and necks! It took me quite a while to realise what I'd done.

@JudyEv I did something similar years ago - I was about 15 and I was making a shirt. I thought I would just sew in the second sleeve before I stopped for the day. First I sewed it in upside down, then I removed it and sewed it in inside-out! That was when I learned that it is never a good idea to try to do one more thing when you're tired!
