Day 193 Promise 655 2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. (KJV) Do you need motivation, something to believe in, purpose? Most of us do. Paul was a motivational speaker as well as an apostle to the Gentiles. He showed Timothy God’s purpose for him and motivated him to be all he could be for Jesus Christ. As Christians, God gave you a calling, a purpose, and appointed you to do His work. It doesn’t matter where you fulfill your calling. It matters only that you fulfill it according to God’s purpose and grace given to you before the world began. Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. (KJV) You have a calling and a purpose. Have you worked in your calling? Do you know what your calling is? Jesus made your calling clear before He went back to heaven. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Paul and the other apostles went throughout the known world preaching the gospel and showing everyone the love of Jesus Christ who died for them. Nothing has changed. We are still commanded to go, to preach, to teach, to baptize, and to observe everything He commanded us through His Word. The world is bigger than it was when Paul and the apostles went throughout the world, but it is no less important that we go. We have many means at our disposal to go throughout the world to fulfill our calling. What are you doing to fulfill God’s purpose? Let’s pray: Father, help me fulfill my purpose to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
