Gee, it must be “stuck in the late 70s/early 80s” time for me. Not intentional, of course, but today’s band on the list of favorites with more than one lead singer makes it three in a row (if you add the bonus band I posted earlier). Didn’t I just mention these guys two hours ago? Has it been that long????
#5: Squeeze
Yes, the squabs on forty fab are back! (They did a parody of the “Stars on 45” series, doing their own songs with a single dance beat, and they called it “Squabs on Forty Fab.”
)
Most of the time, and usually on the singles, front man Glenn Tilbrook did the singing. But not always. “Cool For Cats” featured the very Cockney accented Chris Difford singing lead (he also sang lead on “Slap and Tickle”).
And then there’s Jules! Jules Holland, who would go on to host the successful British music program Later With Jules Holland, was also a member and sang lead on songs.
Your worthless trivia: Paul Carrack, who sang lead on Ace’s “How Long” and Mike + the Mechanics’ “The Living Years,” also did lead vocals on Squeeze’s hit “Tempted.”

Primary lead singer: Glenn Tilbrook
Other lead singers: Chris Difford, Jules Holland, Paul Carrack
