Hello all, I was reading earlier about something called "Fahr's Syndrome". From what I read, it can mimic Schizophrenia. It is said to be a rare ailment, usually with some hereditary link. I do have to wonder if it really is so rare though, seeing as it's presentation can (as previously mentioned) be mistaken for Schizophrenia. How many psych patients are locked away, being treated for the wrong ailment?

@sharonelton Yes, it's certainly a possibility any patient may want to have thoroughly investigated. BTW, I research into this stuff because of my paternal grandfather's mental illness, and a general interest in neurology. I do not claim to be a medical or psychiatric expert.

@sharonelton As far as Fahr's goes, "treatment" more consists of symptom management than anything else, as I understand it.
