Are gas prices increasing in your area?

A couple of months ago, I noticed that gas prices had stayed the same for quite some time. At my "discount" gas station in Pleasant Hill CA, the cost of Regular had been $2.99/gallon. In Montana, that would translate to about $2.19/gallon.
Then I noticed that it had crept up to $3.05/gallon, then $3.15/gallon. That was within a couple of weeks. This morning I bought some gas, and the cost was $3.45/gallon. If my math is right, that constitutes a 15% increase in gas prices in only about two months.
Are gas prices rising where you live?

Yea here also they are pricing it high. You know how market is, the higher the demand, the higher the price

Prices in Virginia are always going up and down. It’s never the same since it’s an expensive area. Some parts of VA it isn’t so bad but jd your like me and live with in an hour of DC you pretty much fudged on prices.

@TheHorse I’m ready to move towards the beach part of Virginia where it’s way cheaper to live

@ShyBear88 Is it cheaper because it's further from urban centers?

They are rising here too. The 2 gas stations down the street are selling for $4.15/gallon, Costco has it for $3.17/gallon.
Our local Safeway is selling it for $3.31/gallon and we used to be able to use shopping rewards points to bring the price down, but we haven't done much shopping there since the pandemic started.

I still shop at Safeway, but I can never figure out how to use the "gas rewards" at Chevron, with whom I believe they're partnered. The price at Chevron is always about 30 cents higher than at my "discount" station, which is further from the freeway (680) but only a block further from my house.

@spiderdust Yeppers, I pass the latter on my way to teach at DVC. But I rarely use it. I tried the Chevron thing (phone number) and it froze up on me. So I gave up.

@TheHorse Our Safeway has a gas station on the property, which is how we've been able to use the gas rewards.
Supposedly when you go to the Chevron pumps, the screen on them should have a question about whether or not you want to use Safeway gas rewards, and then you enter in the same phone number that is associated with your Safeway rewards card.
I looked on the Safeway website to see if there was a FAQ about this, but I didn't have a lot of luck. The site does have a searchable map that will show which gas stations use the gas rewards, so maybe that will be helpful.
For what it's worth, there is a Safeway gas station in Pleasanton on Bernal Ave. There's also one not terribly far from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, on Contra Costa Blvd.

Yep, sure are. I don't own a car, so I don't have to worry about it... but friends are complaining. Next will be food prices, unfortunately.

@TheHorse I hope our local grocery store is still having their sale by the time we get our food stamps. They have great sales. We bought a 6 pack of twisted punch for only $1.

@AngelisaQT I am a creature of habit. I get the same stuff (with one or two oddities) most of the time when I shop.

@TheHorse When they were 2.00 or under here, I was delighted. This is because I do alot of driving.

It has risen a little bit. But I am betting by Summer, it will be sky high.

@Tampa_girl7 Yeah, I don't drive as much as usual (during Covid), but it's still a drain on the pocket book.

I use high end BMW - Bus, Metro rail. Walk.
No car for years.
Singapore has a great public transport and in India I have a cheap three wheel transport that is quite efficient.
I wish electric vehicles outperform ICEs sooner than predicted.
Some here are ecstatic with EVs - have solar panels at home and the end result - nil fuel charges!

Yes, gas prices are rising as spring approaches and more people will go out and about.

@LindaOHio I went to Montana last Summer before Covid spiked there. You could tell the Orange supporters from the Biden supporters by who was wearing a mask and who was not. After I left, the virus hit.

@TheHorse I think so. A couple of people here are planning on resuming their travel plans later this year. We are too.

It certainly is and went up quickly too. Something like, 3.15 in Jan. Now it's 3.85 a gallon of regular. I saw it on the bus. Being a driver for most part of my life, now only bus rider, but some habits are forever.

@oahuwriter Could be. Spring travel could be a factor North of the Equator as well.

@TheHorse Right, especially after the bad time that we all faced last year. Everyone is still recovering and trying to regain their financial status. Hence these price hikes definitely make savings difficult.
