Day 206
Promise 671
Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he said, Behold, the days come, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, says the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he said, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away. (KJV)
Everyone likes new things. They make ready for the new by getting rid of the old.
The writer to Hebrews said God knew the covenant He made with Moses wouldn’t last. Instead, it was a foreshadowing of the new covenant He would bring about with His Son, Jesus.
The new covenant would be better. His laws would be on the minds and hearts of His people. Then they would acknowledge Him as their God.
As Christians, you know the new covenant began with Jesus’ death and resurrection. His sacrifice took your sins and washed them clean in His blood. You are no longer under the old covenant, the law, but you are under the new covenant, grace. Grace showed how the law made way for Jesus. The sacrifices of the law paved the way for Jesus’ sacrifice that would forever wash you clean so you wouldn’t need to make yearly, monthly, weekly, daily sacrifices. Jesus forgave your sin through His sacrifice. Now, when you sin, you only need to confess it and God will wipe it from your record. How good is that?
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your grace which cleanses me from all sin. Help me live in the light of Your grace and in the knowledge of my salvation through the blood of Your Son, Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Thank You God for You are a covenant-keeping God. Thank You that we are a new creation because of Your mercy and grace. And by the most precious blood of Jesus Christ, we were washed clean.

I think we all go through periods of time where we forget his grace and mercy too but even when we remember we also should bestie both on those around us and sometimes that can be easy while at other times a bit harder to accomplish.
I enjoy reading hebrews.
