Adding things back in

I went to physical therapy for a month and have stretches and exercises I am supposed to do.
I got so wound up in my personal life and issues that I quit doing them. I need to add them back in.
I did them yesterday and they really helped. When I do them consistently I have much less pain in my knee and leg.
So, before I go eat oatmeal for breakfast this morning, or get dressed, I am going to go get all stretched out.
I do not know why it is so hard to do things that are good for us.

Because it can be hard to adapt the human mind and body to form healthy habbits and routines. You aren't the only one who struggles to maintain a healthy balance. I remember, like you, I struggled to find time to do my at home exercises when I was a young person. But, at the same time I also grew up with paper-thin walls and finding the space to do some things at a time that wouldn't wake the household was a challenge, too. Especially when you consider I still had school. Loard knows I've tried.

When I was a young person, I went to the gym a lot. Now I am lucky if I make it out the door to do anything. I can even do this on my bed.

@GardenGerty A lot I can do on my bed or a floor mat. I just try to be as comfortable as possible.

Yes. I am active all the time, but not all the activity is as beneficial as the physical therapy stretches.

I'm glad you're putting those stretches back in your routine.
There seems to be an unseen mechanism we find threatening because 'it's good for us'. It pops up with food that's good for us, exercise, and anything that benefits us in any way. We need to push past those thoughts and just do it. I'm glad you're doing it.

Likewise, if "it's bad for us" it draws us like a magnet.

We get caught up in other things and set the things for ourselves to the side. Or at least that's what happens with me.

Yes, we find it easier to take care of other people and things.

Yes getting the motivation is a project in and of itself.

They really are so simple. I just need to figure out how to do them and type.
