A somewhat annoying outing!

The post by @TheHorse describing his failed shopping trip has my sympathy; I just had a similar experience. This morning I drove to the nearest town for three errands - to pick up some angle iron offered on Freegle, buy some pellets and corn for the chickens, and get some supplies from the chemist/pharmacy, chiefly cleaning tablets for Big One's retainers. I planned to go to the free car park first, just a couple of minutes' walk from the chemist. But when I got there the car park was closed for refurbishment. So I decided to carry on to do the other two things first. I bought the food for the chickens - a sack of pellets and a smaller plastic bag of corn. The assistant put the sack in the back while I put the corn on the back seat. Then I went to pick up the angle iron. There were only two lengths so I didn’t want to bother putting the roof bars on the car unless I had to, I wanted to fit them inside instead. But they were 7 feet long, so this took a bit of faffing about. I had to put the back seat down to thread them in from the back, so I pushed the bag of corn into the footwell, and it immediately split and spilled corm everywhere! I got the iron in, then I went back to the chemist - this meant driving around the one-way system to get to an alternative car park, then a longer walk (although it was a lovely day, so I couldn’t really complain). But then I couldn’t find what I wanted in the chemist, I had to go to the till to ask, then they sent me back to the dental section and I still couldn’t find it and in the end asked another staff member who told me they didn’t sell it! Grrrr By the time I got home I was definitely ready for a coffee break. Sweeping up the corn will be dealt with later. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.
