Some of us here on the 'lot will find this funny, but we'll also shake our head because it's true!
What are you talking about, Amber?
I'm glad you asked. I'm referring to Dollar General. Over the past few years it seems to be multiplying. Mostly in rural areas and I imagine they are a competitor to whatever local grocery chain there is too.
Anyway, watch this (if ya want) because it's funny (if ya think so - I do!)
Do you shop at a dollar type store?
Ever wondered why Dollar General has so many stores?Help us make a sitcom pilot! Back our Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/itsasouthern...

I never shop at dollar stores. I never thought anything could get worse than Walmart, but then dollar stores came along and proved me wrong.

Dollar Tree is actually getting quality stuff in it now. There's some stuff I still won't trust, but you can even find name brands like armor all in them.

@moffittjc I think they use the same ingredients, but perhaps they didn't pass the quality check for one reason or another. I've been watching a lot of 'how it's made' lately, and I think most would just re-melt or re-batch if they could, and sell cheaply if they couldn't.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I still don't trust name brands being sold in dollar stores, because I suspect that they use lesser quality ingredients than their same products that are sold in other stores. How else can you explain why they are able to sell stuff so cheaply?

When I was in US, I visited Dollar tree for my art and craft supplies at reasonable prices. Is it a similar kind of store? Sorry my connection is slow and I can't open the link now

Dollar General sells things that can cost as much as $100. Most of the items are around $1-$5 though.

@Tina30219 Walmart has some of various sizes too. I Saw a cloth cubby thing that I was considering, but I don't know if it'd be big enough to replace my dresser.

We shop at Dollar Tree two or three times a week. Dollar General doesn't see us nearly as often, maybe once in a month or two.
Yes, the sketch was funny... although, I wouldn't put it past them to be trying to make this an actuality.

It really seems like they are trying to make this an actuality to be fair.
I haven't stepped inside a DG in, well no I did step inside one a little over a year ago.
I used to work for one.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We were in the local one about two weeks ago. They sell haystacks, which I can't find anywhere else.

Our closest dollar general isn't in the direction we normally travel. Yeah, Dollar Tree and Even Five Below is closer to us. Do you have a Five Below where you are?

I need to get to one. I was looking online and they have a lot of different craft supplies. Might have to make that part of my trip next week.

Ugh!!! They are multiplying like flies in this area, and people are sick of it. They are building another one between the other two they already have in the region. I think they look tacky as heck, but I bet I will stop in the new one at least a few times though, because it will save me from having to go around the corner if I want to get cheap popcorn.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I should contact the planning commission and say no more Dollar Generals. I think a petition should be started.

@snowy22315 That sounds like a good idea. Really there's only so many one area needs. I'd say 1 for every 10 miles should be sufficient.

I haven't seen a lot of new ones here, but going to more rural areas I have. We were in Hickory a few years ago and counted about five of them from the time we hit Hickory to the time we got to our destination.

Yes, a lot of the skincare thing at cheap stores is toxic to our skin. There is one brand that I trust that the dollar tree here carries.

They almost seem to be with how many pop up!
I haven't been in years. I used to work for one. It closed down and we had to count the inventory as we packed it. When I say I was counting in my sleep for months, I'm not lying!
