Baked Pork Chops for Dinner

Boneless pork chops for dinner. They are baking in the oven now. Green beans and creamed corn are simmering on the stove. Cornbread just went in the oven to join the pork chops. Should be plenty of leftovers as well. A favorite and easy dinner.

Do you remember the pork chops and applesauce episode of "The Brady Bunch"? My grandmother always served applesauce with pork chops (and did so long before that show ever aired. We are of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry). So, Mom and I always served the two together as well. Well, one day, about seven years ago, I served it to my (then) boyfriend, and he asked why we were having dessert for dinner, and said he'd never had applesauce with served pork chops before. We grew up in the same town, and he was also of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, so his reaction to the applesauce caught me off guard. So, at the next family gathering, I mentioned the incident to his mother and sister, they were flabbergasted as well. His mother has always served applesauce with pork chops, and his sister has done that as well.

@CarolDM Yes, it was. This guy also claimed to have never eaten oatmeal. That turned out to be false as well. His mother served him that often during his childhood. But boy, did he act as if that common breakfast food was foreign.

Yes I do! I do not care for applesauce but I know many that do. How funny.

@Chellezhere Oh my, oatmeal is a food I have always eaten. Funny how different ares of the same country eat different foods.

That looks good..we had steak and shrimp last night. One of the steaks didn't look right to me though, I gave half of it to the dog...made his furry little day I am sure.

@CarolDM Pork is a very strong food and I mostly eat it for lunch, but very little, because I quickly get full after it.

@CarolDM the only problem I found with making the cornbread in the iron skillet, was that there was no leftover cornbread.
