Bookmarks Collecting Without Realizing It

I seem to have accumulated dozens of bookmarks over the years, real ones made of paper, card, plastic, leather and in one case, metal. Generally whenever I spot one, I buy it or pick it up and a few people send them to me. It's only in the last few days I realized that I have a decent modest collection of them. My favourite shows four giraffes that seem to move when you adjust the position of the book mark. It's like a 3D optical illusion. I use my bookmarks, obviously to mark pages reached in books I'm reading, though I often also mark the pages I hope to reach before I stop reading any given day, the half way point of the books, pages I want to refer to in giving talks, etc. It is a very functional collection. I often have more than one book going, a big volume to read at home, a smaller lighter volume to take when travelling, as well as poetry books, short story collections and books sent to me for reviewing which means pausing my reading of my own collection. Book marks pave my way. I hate turning corners of pages to mark a reading point and dust jackets can crease if used to mark reading landmarks. Arthur Chappell

That's a decent collection. I have a very few but most aren't used in books.. Some have scripture on them others I picked up along the years. I don't know where the majority of them are anymore but at most I have ten if that.

Seeing as they donĀ“t sell bookmarks round here I double up a piece of used paper and mark the page with that instead. Yours sound very nice though.

This is a nice collection. I have some that I took out from the books I bought. I used to get some when I visited a bookstore in Monte Carlo. I also have some that I painted many years ago.

@arthurchappell I like to pain and I think I painted those ones for my father, who loved to read books.

I like bookmarks, too. I used to have a big collection but it vanished along with most other things.

I would rather use a bookmark than ruin the book by turning the corner on a page. Who sends you books for reviewing , is there a website that does this?

That's a nice collection. I could use a couple more bookmarks.
