Promise 686
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
3 And ye have respect to him who wears the goodly clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
Prejudice, racism, discrimination, call it what you will, it’s an evil canker on society. People flock to those who have more influence than they and treat others with less means as though they had the plague.
James told the people they weren’t to act in such a manner, but were to treat all people the same, just as Jesus did. Anything else became evil. He called to memory how those same people they admired treated them.
As Christians, you are to treat everyone the same. No one is different from you. Everyone has flesh and bones, joints and sinew, and blood. We all have thoughts leading to actions. No one is different.
When you look past the color of a person’s skin and treat him or her as an equal, you will be treating others the same way Jesus did. He is no respecter of persons and you shouldn’t be either.
Everyone comes into the world the same way, naked, covered in blood. Everyone steps into eternity the same way, naked and alone. We all need to treat others the way we want to be treated. To do anything else is evil.
It’s time to turn the tide on prejudice and love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Let’s pray: Father, forgive me if I treat others with prejudice. Help me treat everyone the way You treat them, as equals, without partiality. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Such great words of wisdom to hear, especially in light of the recent events in Georgia against the Asian community.
