Brats On The Grill Tonight

Man, did I get a literal steal. When I went to the grocery store today I picked up a couple of packs of bratwurst, which I will cook on the grill tonight. I paid $6.16 for both packs, and each pack has 10 brats. Total weight? 5.16 pounds. Consider a 3 lb party pack these days might run you $12. They were practically giving these away. I paid only about $1.20 per pound. Even a cheaper, Great Value Walmart party pack will cost $2.65 per pound. Got the rolls at Aldi, and I will make up a batch of fried onions and peppers to put on them. I also have a jar of sauerkraut in the pantry which I can bring out. We'll be having these with company we are having over tonight. Just have to fire up the grill and pre-clean it for later since this is the first grilling I have done since last year.

That sounds so yummy except for the sauerkraut, that is. It's an acquired taste I never acquired, lol! But you got a great bargain.

Sauerkraut is one of those foods I can definitely understand someone loving or not. Perhaps it's the German in me. I just love it. lol

Bratwurst is always great. There is a weird thing the Schnuck's ones do that most brats don't, and that is shrink a bit. But they are still tasty and I couldn't beat the price.

@popciclecold Probably will. Schnuck's seems to do this a lot just to get rid of food that they won't be able to sell before it expires.

It was a heck of deal, that's for sure. I wish they'd had more. I'd bought more for sure. I did buy three packs though. I cooked up two of them.

AWESOME!!! I love bratwursts. But they are quite expensive here so I usually hide them in the freezer to eat it alone.

Even here, compared to when I lived in Wisconsin, they are very much more expensive than they were there. But one can still find a good deal. I'd hide them too. lol

I really like brats. I don't eat them as often as I used to. The salt, you know. But they are delicious. And yes, this was a heck of bargain. I wish they'd have had more packages. I bought three and cooked two.

Can one ever go wrong with bratwurst? Although, I do like Italian sausages equally. Both are very good.
