Well, That Worked Out

I couldn't convince my husband that we could be just as safe at Whistler ski resort as we are at home.
We would be outside skiing all day. We cook our meals in the rented Condo, well away from people. Also, we could have had physically distanced visits, outside, with my family!
I cancelled our reservation. For the second time, they pushed it to next spring break.
This morning I saw the news headline that Whistler is shut down due to Covid restrictions being ramped back up. I guess it's good we saved the drive!

@paigea my daughters have had their cruise cancelled for the second time so I know how you feel. Last year and now again this year the cruise line decided to cancel. Guess they'll be hoping again for next year.

@paigea I'm sure you're right, since I'm lying on my bed playing online right now.

@DaddyEvil Why are they wasting their time on self driving cars?! I need a self cleaning house.

Yes, it sounds like evening crowds were a problem. The skiing is well managed. And we have no reason to be part of any evening crowds.
My brother, who lives near Whistler went skiing for the beginning of our holiday, he said the skiing was not crowded at all.
But, we are home. All is good.

Sorry you had to cancel, but well, like you said, it worked out.
I associate ski trips with covid . . . last year in January we went on a skiing trip and I was soooo sick on that trip - I still have to wonder if I had covid at the time. We never did have a chance to do a make up trip.

Seems like Covid is on the upswing once again. Sorry that you had to cancel your trip due to restrictions being enforced . Hope you can still find something fun to do in addition to house cleaning

@paigea I don't think this year is going to be all that different than last year. At least you can get out and walk, hike and cycle. Fresh air and exercise will keep you young

@paigea - The numbers keep going back up. Covid is so scary. I do not think we are finished with it, yet.

@paigea - We stay home most of the time, too. We have been vaccinated, and so have our adult children and grandchildren. We are hoping to get the whole family together this summer, when our oldest granddaughter gets married. I hope our Covid numbers do not go crazy again!

@paigea It has been very hard for most families but hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

It's good you saw it on the news before you went there. Will this be the last chance for a skiing trip there or might it still be cold enough in a few weeks?

@paigea cases are going up here now to but it may be due to people getting the vaccine and not still positive the safe practices set up.

@MarshaMusselman I wish we could all practice keeping our distance. I think that is the main thing.

If I were you I would rather be safe than sorry. I would not go to a resort when there could be many people that show up. I would rather be at home, but, that is me. .Good thing you cancelled the reservation after reading that they were shut down.

We had already cancelled before they shut down. We were scheduled to be there this past Saturday, but we cancelled.
Better to be at home rather than traveling as things are being shut back down.
I still think skiing is a safe activity.
They have been limiting how many people are skiing. We would not have been part of the crowds at restaurants, etc. In the evenings. I think that is the activity that was causing problems.
Anyway, I support all measures to stop the spread.
